Visiting Rishikesh was always on my list. So finally after I successfully completing my visit to Haridwar & mussoorie, I traveled all way to Rishikesh. It is situated 30 Kms away from mussoorie. The ride was comfortable & the NH connecting to rishikesh was darn good. I already pre-booked my hotel which was Hill Top Swiss cottage situated approx. 2 kms away from Laxman Jhula. The cottage was located on a tricky corner & with the help of GPS, I eventually found it with ease. Rooms were very spacious & had all basic amenities. We started our local sightseeing in & around afternoon. There is an auto stand few blocks away from the hotel. They charge Rs 100/- in order to drop you at Laxman Jhula. After crossing the Laxman Jula bridge we walked towards Ram Jhula intersecting the local markets on our way. Once we were done with Ram jhula. we went towards the Ganga Aarti ghat. It is situated at an extreme corner & can be identified easily. Any shopkeeper/localite can help with the directions. The aarti starts at 5:30 p.m. & unlike Haridwar & varanasi, the aarti is very peaceful & well organized. A few over 100 people mostly foreigners visit the Ghat. The place is quite serene & one must visit. The place shuts down after 8:30 p.m mostly so get back to your respective hotel by 9:30 p.m.
