Rice bowl is tucked away in Patel Nagar, difficult to find if you haven't been told where it is. It's part of a chain comprising of two other restaurants also - The Near East and I think the Lotus Garden or Bamboo Garden or something.
Parking is never a problem.
I ( and three-quarters of Delhi) love Chinese food. This place is wonderful simply because of the great food they serve. My personal favourites are : Sour Pepper Chicken Soup ( not on the menu, ask for it ) ; Salt and Pepper chicken/prawns ; Kung Pao chicken and noodles. Mocha Delight( or is it excess??) is outstanding as a dessert.
Food apart, the restaurant doesn't have much to recommend it and as a first time patron, you may take a quick look around and escape the way you came in. The decor leaves much to be desired, you may be stuck with a sweaty waiter once in a while, and all the neighbourhood auntiesand their offspring ( who should be in school???) are at the next table chattering and playing bingo/housie/lotto with merry disregard for the rest of the lunchers. This is the favourite "Kitty" place! Saturdays are safer as the loving wives are home tending to their hardworking hubbies. Table linen is average and threadbare.
Crockery and cutlery are clean and the plates hot.
Service is excellent with a very good waiter - table ratio.
Not inexpensive - Meal for two, not including drinks comes to approx. Rs.700-800, minimum, not including the tip.(Soup + an appetiser + one main dish and rice/noodles + dessert.) At the same time, their portions are generous and the appetiser and main course servings are enough for four per dish. You can add on another two people for 50% more in the bill ( soup, a portion of rice/noodles, and dessert )
