Overpriced SUV, better buy a mid segment sedan. Review on Renault Duster 110 PS RxL Diesel

I have a Swift diesel and driving it for almost 4 years. When Duster launched, it looked good to me and I decided to buy a duster. I went to the dealer and was waiting to book a duster after test driving it. But somehow that day test drive couldn't happen and decided to come next week. In the mean time one of my colleague told me that he booked a Duster and the waiting period is 12 weeks min. With the same dealer I went, so I thought lets see my colleague when he gets his duster and after his feedback I will go for this car. He got it after 14 weeks(too much for me).

It looks good from outside. So we were with the duster very next Sunday to have a feel of a 14 lacs car. What I feel is not good about the car considering the price(though I didn't told it to my colleague as he would feel down after spending so much). The built quality of Maruti cars are much better than duster. You will feel from outside that the car is spacious inside, but believe me if you have tall people in the rear, the journey would be problematic. Even if average people find it less comfortable as the rear ac panel have taken a lot of space.

Nissan Sunny has lot more space than duster. clutch is hard, steering vibrate at potholes, sometimes reverse gear get stuck. How this can be a off roader? and if it can take only 5 passengers, why should one go for a 14 lacs car? Better you can go for a Nissan Sunny, Mahindra Verito or Tata Manza Sedan in much less cost. After the driving with my colleague and I compared Duster with Innova, Scorpio, Safari and xylo at https://autojunction.in . In the same price range and what I found is Duster is nowhere(space, driving, comfort, price) in front of these SUVs.

So I decided not to buy a duster and settled for a Maruti Ertiga. For your information, my colleague had to replace one of his front tyre(MRF) within 7 months as the wheel alignment was not wright in the new car(dealer service told him that). So I will suggest others not to go for a over priced duster and spend lot of money for a so called SUV, rather go for Ertiga, Xylo or Innova.
