Did you wake up this morning with a dry and itchy skin? Aah.don't blame the make-up you wore last night.probably, you didn't remove it well! Or, you did not remove it at all!

We all enjoy applying make up, don't we? Now, only if we equally enjoyed removing it, we wouldn't wake up with sweet dreams in our eyes .and experience a nightmare on facing the mirror!

Removing make up is extremely important to maintain a healthy, glowing skin. For those who need to apply make up regularly, following the Make Up Removal procedure becomes all the more important to avoid long-term adverse effects like loose skin, blemishes, dry or itchy skin, loss of glow, dull complexion etc.

Let me share with you my way of removing makeup.

Three simple steps!

Cleansing #Never try the'short-cut' method of splashing some water on your face and using a regular soap for removing the make up. A healthy skin has balanced oil and moisture levels. It should be cleaned gently to prevent building up of sebum(oil produced by skin).which may lead to some unwanted developments on your skin;-)

~ Use a good cleansing lotion. Cleansing milk is good for dry and normal skin, while oil-free(or water based) cleansing lotion should be used for oily skin.

~ Take appropriate quantity of the lotion on finger tips of both hands and massage in an upward and outward circular motion over the neck, face and around the eyes.

~ If you choose to use cotton balls, make sure you dip a little water and squeeze to make it damp. This is to prevent the fine cotton strands from sticking to you skin.

~ Rinse off with water or wipe off with damp cotton wool.

~ Use lukewarm water for better results.

~ Gently pat dry using a soft napkin

Cleansing unclogs the facial pores and allows your skin to breathe. With us, you are ready to move to the second step.

Toning # Toning is important to freshen, tone and revitalise the skin. It helps tighten the pores and prevents the formation of black and white heads.

~ Some toning liquids can be strong for sensitive skin. Make sure you choose what suits your skin type.

~ Be careful when using the toner around the eyes.

~ Moisten cotton wool with the toner and wipe gently over face and neck- they way you cleansed .i.e. upward and outward movement.

You may wait for a minute or two after applying the toner.

Moisturising # Moisturisers help retain the moisture levels of the skin. It helps in keeping your skin supple, smooth and soft. This step assumes greater importance in the winter season and for those with dry skin. Again here, those with oily-skin type can pick the water-based moisturisers.

~ Apply moisturiser with your finger tips in the same fashion as you cleansed.

~ Moisturiser leaves a thin film on your skin for its protection.

~ You may choose a moisturising lotion or a cream. They serve the same purpose.

(Note: You may skip the second step, but keep up to the first and the third step).

I'm sure its not very difficult to follow these three simple steps. Just remember - it only takes a few minutes and your skin will thank you in the morning!

Other Tips for removing Make Up

@ Be careful while you remove eye make-up. Do not rub or pull.

@ Never leave the mascara on when you go to bed as this can cause puffy eyes.

@ Almond oil or Baby oil works great on the eyes! Dab a few drops on the cotton wool and gently wipe your eyelids.

@ Cold creams are a good substitute when you do not have the cleansing lotion.

@ As far as possible, do not apply'heavy' make-up; removing becomes difficult. You may have to using the cleansing procedure more than once.

@ Water-proof eyeliner can be taken off gently from one end using your finger tips.(Washing with water won't help! Remember.water proof?)

@ Fresh cucumber juice can be used a toner.

@ Cotton wool dampened with lukewarm water is the best way to take off Skin Glitter.

@ If any make-up product recommends a specific way of removing it, follow the instructions.

@ If your lips become dry after taking off the lipstick, apply a lip balm immediately.

@ Incase you do not have a lip balm, a bit of butter or cheese helps. But, make sure you don't lick it off!;-)

  • I hope the three steps and the other tips have been of some help to you. And incase, you would like to share your tips and add to the list above.please leave a comment and I shall add it here, with due credit:-) Thanks in advance!
