I am based in Chandigarh and I bought the Reliance Wireless Net connect usb device about 6-8 months ago and I was extremely disappointed with its performance! I used for about 1 month and then went for a wired broadband connection. Following are the reasons for the same:
1) If you work at the High Speed mode(which is the broadband speed) you hardly touch surfing speed of 1 Mbps and the connection breaks/drops to frequently. The average speed you get is somewhere between 300 - 700 kbps depending on various factors like how are Reliance signals in your area, the time of the days etc! Don't even dream of getting 3 Mbps as claimed by them in their ads!! You would be lucky if you ever cross 1 Mbps..EVER!!
2) If you don't want your connection to break that frequently the only option is low speed mode OR the hybrid mode, and the speed you get is similar to a GPRS(thru mobile phone) internet connection or a 128 kbps broadband connection(if u still get that these days!).
3) Till the time I was using it, there was no option of recharging it online! The link on their website for paying online had some bugs which they were working on and the Reliance dealer told me not to use it! This also means I had to go some Reliance store to recharge it every time!
4) The cost of the device was Rs. 3999/- when I bought it. There was no option to return it at any price if you were extremely dissatisfied like me. And now the same thing is available for something around Rs. 2000. With this rate, you might buy it today at Rs. 2000 and another 6 months down the line, it will be available for FREE with wired broadband connections OR half KG of sugar OR 1 bottle of mineral water...Who knows!!
Ever since I went back to a wired broadband, I am extremely satisfied. One of the reasons for my satisfaction with wired broadband is my horrible experience with Reliance Netconnect!!
Hope this review would help somebody make a wiser decision!
Take care guys!
