Flash Back
Travel Travel and Travel. Especially when I got to Srinagar / North East, priests in the neighborhood were quite happy that they will get good business to perform “Mrityunjaya Homa” etc. for my long life. To get in touch with the near one – I have to go for a V Data Card. I went to the Reliance Communication Office DP Road
First Encounter
Sajith : I am looking for a V – Data card. If you could get me the details of the plan that would be great.
Business Development Executive: Ok – But can you please tell me why do you require a V- Data Card!
Goodness, Have I done some crime. She was sounding a bit arrogant and smirky!
Sajith : Well Madam, I think it is used to get internet connectivity. For the same reason only!
Business Development Executive: Why don’t you go for a Broadband connection? It will give you more speed and now a days everybody is going for that. I can get you the details.
With out waiting for my comments she started explaining the scheme
Sajith : Madam, it is a noble idea. But I want connectivity while traveling and broadband wont help. Also, the place where I stay, only Satyam provide Broadband. So, will you please get me what I need?
Business Development Executive: Oh, that is why I asked you why you need connectivity!
Goodness, Gross mistake from my side! Should I touch her feet!
Well – I got a phone also for nominal rental (Rs.199/-). I thought, it can be given to the maid to receive calls incase my parents are out of station.
Experience with Reliance Phone
Severe network issue – I have to offer 50 coconuts to Ganeshji to get connectivity and with Phone also the same issue was there. When I approached the office they told me that it is the problem with the place I stay, as and when the install and transponder, my issue will get resolved. Great – I should have consulted them before buying flat. My problem.
Finally -----
Enough – I am paying around Rs.600/- per month for last three months for no use. I have to disconnect this. Back to Reliance Office.
Sajith: Madam, the V Data card and this phone is of no use to me. Please let me know how to disconnect this.
Reliance Executive: Why do you want to disconnect sir?
Sajith: Well network issues. May be, I live in a place where there is no connectivity. My problem. This wont work for me. So will you please?
Reliance Executive: Ok – for this you don’t have to disconnect the phone, I will send the network engineer to your place tomorrow and will ask him to check what can be done. Ok.
Goodness – now I have to do some thing different.
Sajith: Madam, I repeat, I don’t want to continue with this. Please do what I say. Will You?
She gave me a confused look and started attending another customer. I waited for 5 minutes and said “Madam, you were talking to me. How can you do this? You need to close my problem.
Reliance Executive: “Ok, you know , only 5 more minutes to close the shop and I have attend to all customers. Please fill up this form and give it back”
The form was written in Greek or Latin and I could not understand what to write where. I approached her again. She gave me a skirmish look and explained what to write!
Finally when I approached her she told me that – now systems are closed from back end. You have to come tomorrow. I lost my cool ---
Sajith : “You made me wait and did not give me proper attention. I don’t want to hear any nonsense like this. If you don’t settle my case with in next 5 minutes, believe me I will get this done from your HQ. I work for ------ company and my CEO is the current CEO of Reliance Capital. Being in the same group, I am sure he will help me in getting the escalation done.”
Yes – I was serious and I mean what I said.
Suddenly – the back end problem got resolved and she started doing her work. She asked me to pay Rs.750/- as remaining charge.
Goodness – if I am using their service I have to pay Rs.600/- and now all of a sudden I have to pay Rs.750/- When I raised doubt she did some more work and told me to pay Rs.525/- Now I cannot trust her. I asked to get some one senior to verify the amount. Now the figure got reduced to Rs.350/- followed by great performance of apology from all around. I paid the amount and came back.
Conclusion
This happened before three months and now also I used to get regular mails from Reliance Communications stating that I have not paid the monthly due . The clarification from Call centre was “Don’t worry – your phone is disconnected. Even after disconnection for three months every customers will get such bills but you don’t have to pay”
I send several mails to them with scanned copy of the disconnection bills I paid – I got response and some one confirmed that my connection no longer exist.
Anti Climax
But finally some one approached me from Reliance yesterday and told “Sir your connection got terminated because you are a defaulter of bill for three months. But we can renew the connection with out any penalty because you are very important for us. If you are interested please fill this form”
