Gone are the days when mobile phones greatly enhanced one's status. It has now become an integral part of today's working class. It is now more of a necessity than a luxury. But it still remains a costly obsession for many. Reliance with its aggressive marketing and pricing has turned the mobile industry on its head. By offering services at a relatively low cost Reliance mobile is really a boon for many who don't move much outside their own town. With the proposed steep hike in tariff for land phones it will be costlier than a Reliance phone. It will be an ideal replacement for a landline. Moreover, the value added services provided free by Reliance will surely makes things difficult for other players, who in the past have been fleecing their customers. The entry of Reliance into the ring will defintely make the consumer the king. He now has more options before him.
