The two & only 2 advantages I see, for me at least, with Lyf over JioFi2 is

a screen, however bad, for Opensignal. I can find where & which direction, signal quality of the tower is max & adjust the placement of the hotspot accordingly. With a Mi-Fi modem this is a bit round about. You’ve to put it in a phone first then by trial & error find the signal average over a few days or weeks then decide to settle down on one place where you get stable & absolutely great internet speeds.

Bluetooth tethering, which’ll consumes less power compared to a Wi-Fi hotspot so if & when you are likely to be low on battery you can squeeze more out with this option which is not an option at all with JioFi2. One caveat is that if your laptop(very likely with many laptops since many still sell with BT2.0) or mobile(which is very unlikely since BT3.0 is like minimum & BT4.x is actually pretty common now) doesn’t support atleast BT3.0 then the speed would be slow.

The biggest advantage with a Mi-Fi modem is that you can place it at the top most corner of your house/temporality which you’ve figured gets the best speed connected to a power source or power bank & freely move around while on Wi-Fi. Saves a lot on your phone battery especially while giving you freedom to move around within the performance range of an 802.11N Wi-Fi network.
