Reliance's Jio has gained a lot of buzz in the media due to its aggressive pricing and lucrative data plans. The service promises free unlimited 4G data till December 3. In addition to this, you would also be offered free voice calls and messages. However, as they say when something is too good, check it.
First of all, the waiting period for getting a 4G SIM is more than 7 days. I was told that the SIM would be available in 15 minutes, rather it took more than 6 days. Coming to the services, the lesser I say, the better it would be. There is a connectivity issue with the calls. I cannot hear the voice of the caller properly and often, the calls ends abruptly. The internet too is showing browsing issues.
Another issue is the call connectivity. If you are making calls on Jio networks, then there is no issue. However, when making calls to another networks, you will have to download an app named Jio Join. You also need to have a 4G compatible cell with you.
My advice is to thoroughly research the pros and cons of the scheme, before plunging into buying one. My experiences so far have been average at best.
