One of the best news for Indians in 2016 has been the announcement of Reliance Jio 4G network. As more and more users from India are getting online, it was imperative for a good quality telecom operator to come up who would not just provide a reliable data service, but also remain cost effective to ensure it reaches majority smartphone users in India.
Reliance going directly for 4G services bypassing previous generation(2G/3G) services really helped them drop any legacy support while bringing in all the advantages of the latest telecom technology to the Indian market.
Their involvement resulted in a price war among other telecom networks, resulting and easy and cheap data packages. Of course being a new network, Reliance Jio still has a long way to go in terms of providing good coverage PAN India, but so far they have done a very good job in major cities.
However, as more and more users are jumping the Jio wagon, I have started experiencing reliability issues in terms of call qualities as well as data throughput. I have also experienced lags in the voice calls every now and then which could become worrisome.
Not sure how it is going to bode in the next few months when even more customers would get onboard. But for now, the price we pay to use their service is still attractive enough to not jump the train yet.
