Reliance Jio "4G" surely has made a huge customer base, thanks to its free offers, in the name of "testing". Although I never intended to take a Jio SIM, have two of it.:D

I won't comment about the services while it was in the "testing" phase. Free me to hai, kaisa bhi chale achcha hai.

After it launched its commercial plans, this April, the service has become better a little as far as network connectivity and speed is concerned. The speed is, however, nowhere near to a 4G connection. Even my 3G mode in Airtel, gives a better speed(almost double, at times). I don't use mobile internet at home except a few times. Broadband by BSNL does a satisfactory job there. And Jio has, a lot of times, given me a lesser speed even than that provided by the 2 mbps broadband.

Regarding the calls, that's where it falls back in the competition. There are moments when the network would be disturbed for hours - calls not connecting, call drops, breaking voices - and what more, no network coverage. While travelling, you won't find any coverage as you leave the city.

But what's most(and the only) fascinating about Jio, is its dirt- cheap prices. And these competitive prices have definitely helped the people a lot, forcing the big players out there to launch similar offers, thus lowering down the monthly expenses required for internet connectivity. A big applaud for the approach.

As of now, I can't rely it as my primary number. Most of the calls still go through Jio, but for emergencies I still have to use Airtel. And internet facilities remain unused for most of the time as I don't need them.
