This is about the pathetic shopping experience I had at Reliance Digital recently. I went to Reliance Digital, Hinjewadi, Pune to buy a Water Purifier on 16th August 2015.
The shop was running an Independence Day offer of 15% CashBack(10% CashBack by Gift Cards and 5% CashBack by using HDFC Cards). My choice was Pureit Marvella Water Purifier(RO+ UV) and so I went directly to the same.
I asked a couple of doubts to the saleswoman standing next to the Purifier and she was completely unaware about the features of the product. She then called another salesman, he started explaining me the features, in between I asked him how often we need to change the Germkill Kit. He told me that this model doesn’t have a Germkill Kit and it is all with filters. I was surprised to hear that because in the top of the product it is clearly printed that it is having a Germkitll Kit inside.
The store price written on the label near the product was 17100 Rs and it was having a Philips Hand Blender free with it. I told him that the price they are offering is too high and it is only having 16000+ in online stores and in some nearby stores. He went to the billing section and came back to me telling that they can give me the purifier at 16245 Rs. I agreed.
They did the billing using my HDFC Card and gave me the bill. I asked them for the gift coupons and the free gift offered. They told me as they had given me a discount in the final price I am not eligible for the coupons or the gift. But I will be getting 5% CashBack as I had used the HDFC Card. I told them that it is given by HDFC and not offered by you and I want what you have offered with the product. And if you are not giving it as you had given a discount, you should convey it to me before billing. Even the discount given is 855 Rs and for that you are not giving me coupons worth 1624.50 Rs(10% of product price) and the free gift(minimum 500 Rs). They were not ready to do anything. I feel it like a case of pure cheating the customer and so I demanded my money back. Then the manager came, and after a lot of arguments with him, he told he will give me the free gift(Hand Blender) but gift coupon is not at all possible. Even he was not ready to cancel the bill and give my money back. I came back home desperately.
The product got delivered the next day by the Reliance ResQ Team and I got a message saying that the installation is assigned to a Reliance ResQ technician for the day after(Call No 800460xxxx). Nothing happened the next day, by evening I called the Customer Care at 18001031044. The customer care officer told me that it will be installed the next day morning ie; on 19th Aug 2015. The same thing happened that day also, I called them multiple times, they told that the installation will be done afternoon, then evening and so on. And after so many calls and arguments, the product got installed on 20th Aug 2015 evening.
This will be my last purchase in Reliance Digital as I had never faced such a bad experience in any of the stores so far. Making the customer come to the shop putting some fake offers, putting a high price tag then reduce the price on asking, not giving the offers based on that without conveying the customer… and so on. Even the installation which will be promised in next 48 hours will not be done in that timeframe for sure and we have to call at least 5-6 times to get it done in 4 days’ time.
