The worst connection ever.


I bought this as soon as it was out as it promised 3.1 mbps speed. till date I have never got above 100kbps. I have owned this data card for 3 years so am talking from considerable experience.


Other pains include:


1) Inability to connect to the net unless u r close to a window in an area where Reliance has its set up


2) Completely unreliable connectivity. Just when you are close to finishing an important transaction or some other critical work, the network gets disconnected. And there are days, like today, when it gets disconnected so frequently, like every few minutes, that you wonder whether reliance is in the business of providing net connections or irritating people enough to make sure they land in a mental asylum.


3) Try loading a youtube video with this connection. It's gonna take you forever, if at all


4) Billing: I even faced issues here. I rarely pay attention to the bill. then one day I did and I thought I was overcharged. I decided to go through my usage pattern and realized I was indeed overcharged. Then I decided to go way back into the past. I checked bills for 3-4 months and I had been continuously overcharged. I raised a ticket and the issue was resolved without a murmur. I dont know whether that is good or bad. I mean I am happy that they resolved it quickly but I wonder whether it was a policy to overcharge and get away with it till caught.


5) Irritating Customer Service: The customer service guys would start calling at least 2 weeks before ur due date. In a way it is good to be reminded. But the tone and the voice and the content of the call was absolutely irritating. First thing, they ask is "ur due date is on so an so date, so by when do u intend to pay ur bill." What the hell? Just remind me of the date and be done with it.


Secondly, those guys can barely speak fluent Hindi leave alone decent English. It really gets on your nerves


Thirdly, every few months they will call to check the service quality and you tell them the problems and they say they will get back and they never do. So I told them if they never intend to get back why call me to begin with.


And when they do pass on the message to the service desk, all those guys have to offer is clear up your temp folder and your cookies and your prefetch folder. what the hell that has got to do with connectivity speed and disconnection I don't know. but I religiously do that each time with absolutely no sign of any improvement.


or their other standard excuse is they are upgrading their system and the problem will soon be sorted out. For 3 beldy years they have been upgrading and the service seems to have only gotten worse.


I cant think of an alternative either. A friend who tried MTS told me he faced the same issue there. And I also own a Tata connection and the experience has so far been similar with reference to the speeds.
