Love story with a difference…huh…. that’s what Vashu Bhagnani promised always for his viewers. The story of RHTDM has nothing-exceptional story except that strikingly its title is spelt very mischievously. And basic theme-“ a simple love story” is crafted well in REHNAA HAI TERRE DIL MEIN, directed by Gautham Menon.
Plot Outline:
The plot revolves around the lives of three characters namely: Madhav Shastri alias Maddy (Madhavan), Rajiv alias Sam (Saif Ali Khan) and Reena (Diya Mirza).
Maddy and Rajiv alias Sam are college students who cannot see eye-to-eye with each other.
Maddy is notorious, funky with not-so-serious attitude in life guy and Rajiv is stylish, suave and mature guy and girls always swooning on him.
They share aggressive acrimonious relationship with each other.
On the farewell party of Sam, Maddy went to bid adieu Sam where both Sam and Maddy wished to meet just once in life again to balance what has they had left incomplete in lives……….
3 years Later
The destiny takes Sam to U.S to pursue a career whereas Maddy joined software firm as a faculty.
Tera Milna……….Pal Do Pal Ka …….. Boy Meets a Girl
One rainy night Maddy saw Reena…….his kinda girl…….and falls in love instantaneously. Then, he saw her in his friend’s marriage (New-Delhi) but doesn’t muster enough courage to talk to her.
Vashu Bhagnani seems to be fascinated by the idea of boy meets a girl in rainy night….similar to when Tusshar spoted kareena in MKKH !! We donot mind it!!
Now Maddy madly in love with Reena try to locate her whereabouts. Then one fateful day, Maddy spotted Reena in Mumbai and he with his friend succeed to find her contact-number from Reena’s friend Shruti (Tanaz Currim )……….but Shruti told Maddy that Reena is about to get married with a boy living in U.S………….now guess what??
From phone-a-friend-lifeline Maddy comes to know that Unseen Guy in Reena’s life is coming to India in a week!!
On sincere advice of his father (Anupam-Kher) Maddy is all set to woo her ladylove.
How? By pretending himself as that Unseen Guy in Reena’s life. Maddy has got just five days to woo her lady love as unseen man is coming after a week.
His friends disconnected phone of Reena’s residence and Maddy lands up at Reena’s place.

Reena being a conventional girl proves an easy-cake for Maddy.
Few sequences are hilarious as Maddy applied Naye Funde to win Reena’s love.

one fine day Reena came to know about his identity before Maddy could tell her . Poor Maddy….Reena despised him as a liar and cheater.
Reena now meets her Mysterious Unseen man…………..Sam (Saif).
Pyar Tune Kya Kiya
Maddy landed at Sam place not knowing who is his contender in love-game…
Sam and Maddy are in front of each other again.
The hatred game started and in the end Maddy wins back Reena. Sam generous by nature knows in the end that Reena loves Maddy when their Saat-Pheras were going to take place.

Gautham Menon has directed this Hindi flick. And he has done a good job in handling few sequences like-the climax scene when the audience left tenterhooks to what will happens next? And furthermore direction of few songs like-title song and Dilko etc. are captivating.
Music:
Harris Jayaraj's musical score is praiseworthy. The sound of Music is fresh and youthful. Many songs like- 'O Mama Mama' and Churaya Churaya, Rehnna Hai ,'Sach Keh Raha Hai Deewana' are superb in their first appeal. Especially the song 'Sach Keh Raha Hai Deewana' has a mesmerizing effect on the audience.
Cinematography by Johny Lal is stirring. Dialogues are amusing.
Performances: I do not want to get unfair here by comparing Hindi and Tamil version as I haven’t seen the Tamil version. So my observations are based on Hindi movie itself.
Maddy alias R. Madhavan: Kaise Mein Kahu Tujse………
Cooing around with his friends in college, this funky and fun-loving guy has acted well.
It’s amazing to watch him in songs like-Sach Kah Raha sung by Kay-Kay. He has performed the role of Maddy well. Madhavan has made an impressive Debut.
Rajesh alias Saif Ali Khan: Dil ko………
Superb performance by Saif .Its good to watch him acting well again. The mature and suave guy role is tailor-made for Saif. After a engaging performance in DIL CHAHTA HAI, Saif delivers a virtuoso performance once again.
Reena Alias Diya Mirza: Churaya churaya……..
Diya has acted according to the set parameters for her. She is looking Gorgeous, Selvette needless to mention that more work is needed to perfect her dialogue delivery.
Anupam Kher is, like always, efficient in tailor-made role of Father-cum-buddy like one in DDLJ.
Kya Kehna
RHTDM remake of the Tamil blockbuster Minnale, is captivating in few parts. The film begins on an exhilarating note and the college sequences are trendily shot and are entertaining.
The story gets interesting when Saif returns on the scene and the two adversaries Madhavan and Saif come face to face again, albeit in entirely unusual circumstances.
The humdrum climax reminds of the climax of Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai.
Kuch to Kaho:
On the whole, REHNAA HAI TERRE DIL MEIN is a love-story with little indifference………comes under once watch able category.
