Horrible and irresponsible Customer Service

Last Year a I booked 2 tickets from Pondycherry to Rameshwaram, I wanted to book a bus at 24th December night, so I checked the Redbus website and booked 2 tickets in a bus whose departure time as per the redbus website was 25th December 12:50 AM, which means this bus was supposed to leave at 24th night after 12'o' clock.


So after spending my entire day at pondycherry I reached the boarding point, I checked with the travels office, and showed them my e-ticket, upon checking which they said that my ticket is for next day, which means that Redbus.in meant 25th December, 12:50 AM as 25th night after 12'o' clock, which is actually 26th of December, so I was not allowed to board the bus that day. So, I had to leave in a roadways bus towards Trichy, planning to take a bus from there to Rameshwaram. So, the next morning(25th December) I called my roommate back in Chennai and asked him to cancel the ticket.


According to Redbus, you can cancel the ticket 4 hrs prior to your journey, but my roommate said that he is unable to cancel the ticket the website says, "Ticket cannot be cancelled, tickets can only be cancelled 4 hours prior to the journey" however it was around 8'0' clock in the morning at that time, which means my journey was about to start 16 hrs after that. So, I called the Redbus helpcenter, and informed them about the whole scenario, the rep said that they will not be able to refund my money, but she never gave a good enough reason for me to understand why. After that I sent an e-mail as well to the helpdesk, I got a reply that they were currently working on my query and will get back to me ASAP.


After 2 days, I came back to chennai I checked my email and found that they sent me an email that they will not be able to provide me any refund.


I understood the reason, firstly they entered the wrong date for the start of journey. However, according to the system, the journey started at 24th night after 12'o' clock, so the refund was not possible.


So, this was a horrible experience I had with redbus, they however kept on repeating their disclaimer, "Redbus does not own any buses, it is just a ticketing platform, so it cannot be held responsible for any miscommunication with the Travel Agency". But where is the travel agency's fault in this, Its been a year now. I have avoided redbus as much as I could, and I personally recommend you to be careful while booking at redbus.in.
