I gave this movie a single star on Mouthshut because that is the least that can be given. In fact, this movie is worth half-a-star on a scale of 5; I would rather say "rating not applicable"

MaiTheory(TM) predicts: Super flop at box office.

In short:Unless you want to see lots of vulgar(but not titillating) smooching, don't watch Red.

*The highlights:

*1. The songs(though misplaced in the narrative) are not bad.

*The lowlights:

*1. The story, screenplay and the narration are searching for each other but in vain. There is no real suspense and this movie has been made keeping stupid audience as target. If someone tells you he liked the movie and especially the suspense/thrill part, simply smile!

  1. Direction lacks a vision, a basic premise. There are glaring inconsistencies and mistakes in the narration thoughout the tale. The emotional scenes turn out to be most hilarious ones thanks to lackllustre direction and bad acting. The(supposedly) thrilling scenes have audience in splits. If someone got emotional watching this one - you know what to think of that poor soul!

  2. The cinematography leaves a lot to be desired. Especially the lighting is inconsistent - you can observe it in different frames of the same scene. The subject goes out of focus a lot of times and wide-lens is used in most of the scenes when there is hardly any need. The closeup shots are of acceptable quality.

  3. Background score fails to create an atmosphere. This turns out to be a big show spoiler as the movie could have been less hilarious and more thriller-like if the background score was good.

  4. Editing is rank bad. It is so bad that even a common cinegoer can tell that the razor is not sharp enough. Most scenes transition abruptly and there are lengthy interludes.

The plot:Trust me, you don't want to know the plot! For the once who would insist - A millionaire gets a new life following a heart transplant. He goes looking for the donor and gets himself in deep trouble - falls in love with the donor's widow, get involved in crimes and what not.

*The ultimate goofup:

*After(successful and seemingly simple) heart transplant, Aftab is given pills that he needs to take for life to avoid infections. He keeps popping the pills whenever he is nervous as if it were for calming down the blood pressure.

There are lots and lots of such stupidity. Figure those scenes out for yourself if you choose to watch this film.

*Parting words

*Aftab has tried his best and has done well for the most part of the movie. He seems to have grown as an actor.

Celina has wasted a golden opportunty of making a mark through her acting skills. Amrita gets 4 minuted of screen space and does moderately well given her character was not well rounded.

All in all, a pathetic movie that deserved no review but I have written to save national money and time.
