Hello Readers of MS,
Well I am writing another review for you all - One that involves a TV show revolving around burning issues in and around India. The anchor Barkha Dutt - the lady who has won so many citations in the field of Journalism and yes who can easily be the role model for so many of those young ladies out there who have the urge to do something meaningful in life!!! Well going on - about the TV show Barkha is anchoring/presenting what ever you may call it - is based on true facts and real life stories - about incidents happening in our households, around us affecting our very existence. One such incident showed me a story of a father who was struggling to keep the very reminiscence of his valiant son who had given his life for the country. At times it showed me glimpses of humanity I can perfectly do without- and Yes It also showed me many illustrations of bravery camaraderie and selflessness which I doubt any other Indian show on Television has been able to portray. The reason I feel most youngsters should watch this show is merely because we tend to be a little laid back on our attitude towards what is happening around us and maybe we can get a little close to what is the real world like – rather than getting a shock when we ourselves face the same in our lives. Yes some may argue that many of the anecdotes shown in the program do not pertain to our lifestyle but – I guess it always helps to look at the broader sense of the word isn’t it.
One particular incident shown on Reality Bites is still fresh on my mind because it happened to be at the same locality I live. We have a Petrol filling station close by and I usually went there on my way to office – the place having a big citation with the name of Late Major Anuj Nayyar. I thought it must be another of the ex-army Personnel allotted a petrol pump by the government. When I came across this story on Reality Bites it made me real aggrieved to find that the gentleman who runs the pump had to go through so much pains just to see that the only place he held in remembrance of his beloved son was put in place. Yes now I come across the same petrol pump and I meet the same man behind the counter and yes I remember Reality Bites for the recognition it gave for the aggrieved father and some insight into humanity for me.
