Dear friends, here I was told to give an advice on how to read reviews in Mouthshut. In my opinion, it is always good to read reviews with your eyes open and mouth shut, until you finish reading the review. (After reading you can shut the mouth of the maker of the product or the writer of the review as you wish.)

Dear friends, there are excellent reviews in/on mouthshut which can enlighten your spirit, increase your knowledge and helps you to choose right products. Being a consumer site where anybody can write their opinion honest or not, it is wise to keep some discretion to make your life easy. If you have the entire time of the world, probably you can read all reviews and writer comments on them. Any good review helps you some way and any bad review strips you from your time. It is important to read good reviews and skip bad reviews as you know they both co exist. So my duty here is to help you to select interesting and helpful reviews for reading and reject unwanted ones (for you; may be it is helpful for somebody else). One cannot guide another completely on this path where we do not know the quality of a review until we read it. Still, let me try to help you friends or is it an attempt to help myself?

1. Who writes? By now, all of you will have your favorite writers in Mouthshut. There are many reasons why we like a member's writing. Probably it is for their language skill, knowledge, presentation style etc. There are other factors as well which makes your favorite writers; like a person you already know, or a celebrity etc. The point is how not to miss a review from your favorite writer. The best way available is to keep an alert on that member. That's right. On the profile of the writer, there is an 'alert' which you can activate and you will be reminded of posting a review by the member. So, take your stock, who all are your favorite writers and keep an alert for them.

   
   




2. What Category? Say, if you are keen on watching bollywood films and don't want to miss a review written about bollywood films, just go to the entertainment menu, select the bollywood page where you can find the list of bollywood films and categories and can see the latest written reviews. There down is a link for more reviews on bollywood. Click on that and you will get the chance to read all recent reviews, say upto 50 recent reviews. If you only want to read selected reviews, this selection will help in that too. If you are a book lover, do the same with the book menu. Now, bookmark the page and next time if you only want to read book reviews, just check the bookmarked page. If you have more interests, you can keep on adding the book marks and can open whenever your mood and time permits, say once or twice a week.

   
   




3. Searching for specific information? You are in a hurry to decide on the purchase of a product. There are hundreds of reviews on the product. Which review to read is your immediate dilemma. If you have reviews from your known friends, better to read their reviews first. Then, if you have a feeling that your friend's review is not helping you in full, go for some reviews with a Very Useful or Useful tag. Better to skip Somewhat useful reviews where some of the Not useful reviews may be useful if it is a copy paste and somebody has mentioned a source link below, in that case you can check the source and get genuine information. Number of read may be helpful, but not always. Number of comments on the other hand is the best determining factor here. That gives different people's view points in same page. Star symbol may help but not always.

   
   




4. Read all reviews? If you are particular, you can read all new reviews writing in mouthshut only if you focus on the front page and the links for more reviews. When you attempt on this method it is understood that mouthshut is hosting a million of products and you are chosing to read all of them. Use your discretion and chose the reviews you want to read from the daily store depending on time. Number of Reviews written by the member, Article length and information depth visible, rating pattern etc. can give hints if you are one who observes.

   
   




5. Encourage new writers? Encouragement is one motivation which makes more and more members to join the writer gang and keep on writing. If members are quitting in the forum, that is because they are getting less of encouragement. Unless for people who keep writing as profession or as a mean for earning money, the web site offers free space to post the writings. The web site gives a better encouragement than writing in a blog or in many other web sites. Still, encouragement is a good addiction which always 'Dil Mange More'. Even when we cannot encourage all of them to their expectations, we need to do that for the aspirant writers, whenever time permits. If you wish to grow your friends circle or wish to make more friends, there are two ways you have to follow. The first one is to go by the trusted circle. Go to your trusted circle and see if you already formed an opinion about their writings. Take time and read what they wrote from start to finish and you are right there, very close. You can do that on members you trust as well. If finished with the list, check the trusted list of some of active members and you can get many writers from their friends circle. Read their reviews, form an opinion about them and encourage few of them. Then, you can check the next person's trusted circle and soon you will be short of time to keep track of all of them. The second way is to read randomly from the new reviews. Note that, when you attempt this way, you may have to go a little longer to find treasures. With nearly 100 plus new entries every day we cannot know the talent base for all of them. Better try the 2nd reviews or 3rd reviews of members, unless they posted all those 3 reviews in one day.
