My Mom always said..''Throw that Filmfare away and read Readers Digest instead''! I guess its been more than a decade since my family has been subscribing to Readers Digest. I call it the little family book of humour & knowledge.
This is a magazine that is available and published worldwide. Did you know that it publishes 25 million copies in 19 different countries. Boy! That definitely speaks for its popularity. Also this magazine can be read and enjoyed??(varies..) by all ages. Its a book which has something instore for every single member in the family.
The regular features include the popular sections that I never missed as a kid. `Life's like that', `All in a days work, `Humour in uniform'.
Apart from wacky humour, it has has regular informative reviews on education, specially a lot on Science, Research and recent medical discoveries. Hmmmm, bored aren't you? Well, but it is informative and I have seen people reading and benefiting from it.. It has Non fiction articles on nature, which is interesting and more to my liking, Drama and adventures..Real life stories, with photographs and comments from the survivers themselves. This section sometimes has really scary and unbelievable true stories.
Last but not the least is the `Book Section' which always has an interesting 9-10 page true to life experience.
I have grown reading this magazine. And I definitely like it more today as I keep discovering new segments of my interest. Also, its an excellent way of improving your vocabulary. I never miss the section `It pays to enrich your Power'. Try it out, you'll know what I am talking about.
A copy of the magazine is published every month. Also dont miss out the `Special Readers Digest' edition with selected articles and stories from the magazine.
I am sure there are many who just read it for those sections on humour..some for news on medicine, some for stories. Whatever the reason I feel its a magazine worth reading and worth subscribing to.
Ofcourse the articles, reviews are all American based. I however have no regrets so I am sure you wouldn't either!
