I am glad that MouthShut is finally allowing members to write reviews and advice on the aspects of the website itself.
I have seen many members state the criteria on which they rate reviews. Some members have also expressed their rating theories under MouthShut.com site review itself.
First things first. Without rambling, allow this old MouthShut member to express his views on rating:
a) Highly Recommended: I think one should highly recommend a review if you agree with the content of the review. Also the review should have few or no grammatical errors and language should be free of typos and shortcuts. 500 words or more should be the length of a HR review. For instance, if you have written a review on a movie-let's say Yaadein. And you have given five star to this movie. Obviously even if you have used the most choicest of words and your review is long plus error free, I will rate it as Somewhat Recommended ** because I do not agree with your rating of the product.
Why SR? I think MouthShut is a site that helps or should help us in our shopping decision-or when it comes to choices. If you have used flowery language and made a bad product appear good with your review, that's not helping the consumers.
Similarly if you have made a good product bad, obviously you are misleading the consumers with your review.so I always base my rating of your reviews based on how many stars you have given to the product. Products that I know are not good and if you have given it a five star, will earn a lower review rating from me. Most reviews by Star Writers fall in this category.atleast I rate them as HR!
b) Recommended: I feel you deserve a R rating if your review is atleast 200-300 words. Is properly formatted and you have elaborated about your experience with the product or service. I may or may not have used this product. So I wont look for how many stars you have assigned to this product.
c) Somewhat Recommended: If you have just completed 75 words to get MS-Points.or if you are trying to make a good product bad or bad product good with your review. Most reviews of MouthShut member such as Jasbirdyn falls in this category. Total non-sense covers nothing about the product
d) Not Recommended: If there is an element of cheating, or blatant lie in your review.
I hope you will ponder what I have written and rate as many review as possible.by the way, we also earn MS-Points for rating reviews! Bye, am off to rating some new reviews!
