Rann.. A peep in the media houses

Watched Rann, feeling RGV has created some thought provoking movie. And Yes! he has made it well. RGV is one of the talented and intelligent producers of Bollywood who risks making offbeat movies, guess thats the reason Big B chooses to work with him, even after majority perception of being a factory producer.

Rann is based on the Media and Political nexus, which exploits the medium of news channel to make gains in respective fraternities. The Manufacturing of news is a reality and RGV handles it well showing the dark side of the glamorous Media and Political world.

The first half drags creating a plot only to get sensational after the break. The movie looks good only in patches and some of the sequences are real strong. But week supporting casts makes it fall flat on its continuity. The character of Ritesh Deshmukh was short and significant, but Ritesh disappoints, which is a major drawback. Ritesh, please stick to comedy as you look good with that innocent fools face. Rajpal Yadav plays his best to add humor at intervals. Mohinish Behel a refined actor and plays the negative streak with fine ease. Paresh Rawal is good and needs no words for his work. Rajat Kapoor is fine and classy as always. Suchitra Krishnamurti s appearance on the screen after a long time gives a fresh feel. Sudeep, who plays Amitabh’s son is good in some scenes but also bad in a few, (why was the movie not edited properly, specially his suicide scene), I strongly feel KK Menon, would have been the best cast for that role. Above all Amitabh has done a good job specially in the concluding sequence but one tends to forget everything about the movie as soon as you walk out of the hall.

Rann fails trebly on the music front, which takes away the soul of the flick

Surprised to see Times of India, giving it a 4 stars. Humm Media and Bollywood nexus. is it?
