Never again.....to Westview hotel. Review on Ranikhet

Ranikhet is a place people go for total relaxation, to spend some time in its calmness and beautiful surroundings under the pine trees and the beauty of snow peaks which you can never forget.

My family and me went there for 3 days to Ranikhet last week. We booked hotel West view from the internet site. It looked a good hotel with all necessary amenities and reasonable charges. But while booking, the payment could not be processed due to some error, so when we spoke to the hotel, they said not to worry as we can also pay after reaching Ranikhet. Since it was the out of season booking, the hotel was not occupied much. So we got the booking.

Now on the D day when we reached there, they showed us the Deluxe room which we booked. It was very shabby, all in old wood, very dim lights and it was kind of a very dark room .the sofas were full of spots(not cleaned enough). So I went to Reception to ask if any better room is available, they showed me another one which was bit bigger and looking better room. We decided to go for that, after paying 1000 more per night.

But on checking in, our problems started. There were almost 10 light bulbs in the room but all of 0 power, which were very dim and we couldn't see our clothes properly, I had to work on something on my books but it was not possible to work in that light. We asked them to improve the lights, to which they increased the voltage a bit but still it was darkish. In bathroom, right on the mirror, it was written, that hot water will be available only till 9.30 a.m in morning and from 7 - 9 pm in evenings.now tell me who takes bath in such winters till 9.30 a.m. in the morning.we again had to request them a lot to give us hot water till 11 a.m. atleast. For reading work, I had to sit outside for my work in day light, but in nights there was no good light at all. I asked for a soap case in the bathroom which they didn't have at all.i was surprised as the soap given by them was breaking after getting wet. Only one plug pt was given in the room for tea-maker, which we had to keep on swapping with our laptops, or mobile phone, camera charging etc, again a very stupid problem. Food was without oil and masalas.overall good but not very tasty. The lower service people were very polite and working the whole day, but I think somewhere the owner is to be blamed for this poor services which are provided to the customers. Also there was no internet or wifi available in the rooms or hotel, which is mentioned on their internet site. We had to go down to the market for our data transfers.

Thought we will have a nice and lovely vacation there, but couldn't get much of comfort in this hotel. I am atleast never going to this hotel again, which says something and gives nothing in return.
