Whenever and wherever I hear the name ‘Rani Mukherjee’ there are three aspects of hers that rush into my mind all of a sudden – her cute smile, lovely dimples and unique husky voice. All these refreshing features and breath taking acting skills brought out the package for one of the best actresses ever existing in bollywood (for me, she is the best to happen).

Though everyone knows this, I guess it wouldn’t be complete for my revu if I don’t mention that she is a 21st March 1978 Arien born to director Ram Mukerjee in Bombay and has a brother 5 years older to her and cousins Kajol and Tanisha ( I know that this is a repeated piece of info…sorry guys). Let me share some different stuffs then. She did all her schooling from Maneckji Cooper Educational Trust School in Bombay, well couldn't find on her eductaion after that. Rani is an avid lover of comics and cartoons. She loves ‘Archie’s Comics’ and she is the owner to a huge pile of them and her favourite cartoon character is Donald Duck (cute right). Rani was said to be a plumb girl during her teens but her balanced diet, rigourous workouts and no-no attitude to soft drinks and junks helped her achieve her present figure. Rani eats any meal made with fish and tries maximum to feed on her mama’s food.

If you ask her about her favourite movie, she would answer “Titanic” with enthusiasm even before you complete your question. Rani is very emotional as a person and says she always cries each time she watches the movie. Her dearest song is none other than the title song from the same movie sung by Celine Deon. Her favourite perfume is Polo Sport and car is Opel Astra, which she brought with the money she earned from her first two movies. The actor she adores the most is Amitab Bachan and it was a wish come true for her when she got to act a full length movie all along with him in Black. Rani feels sad when she says she only knows how to speak Bengali, Hindi and English and is trying hard to study other Indian languages too. Unlike other actresses who turn you down when you ask them about their beauty secret, Rani has an answer for that too. She admits constantly soaking herself with moisturizer (hmm… her skin does look glowing and soft…don’t you think too?).

Her greatest obsession is Television but she gets freaked out watching horror movies. She says she gets happy when she can shower love into people that care for her. Rani doesn’t believe in dreams cause she feels they will only remain in dreams and never turn out to be a reality. The dream man she would love to date with is…ok not an Indian…Sylvester Stallone (Lucky Stallone!!). Many of us have our own childhood collections, some of us collect coins, others stamps etc…but Rani collects her birthday cards. She feels that they are the best gifts to receive ( So y waiting friends, do send her a card next March…it will be safe with her forever). She spends her free time driving from place to place without stopping anywhere until she reaches back from where she started (mostly home). Her favourite holiday spot is Mauritius and England apart from Khandala. She is a true believer in sincere efforts and hard work, ‘they never go haste’ declares Miss Mukerjee. Apart from achieving more heights in bollywood, Rani says that she will be satisfied only after she settles with a wonderful family and built a lovely home of her own.

Catching hold of so much of her personal life, it would be nice to talk on her film life as well. Her debut movie was Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat in 1997. Though it didn’t click out well, the Khandala girl became known and familiar to the public after movies, Ghulam and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (for which she was awarded the best supporting actress) in 1998. Rani credits Amir and Shahrukh for shaping up her career and teaching her a lot about the industry. She says they always treats her like a young kid and she takes the freedom of being their little sis. Then she did Mehndi (1998), Mann and Hello Brother (1999), Badal, Hey Ram (which really brought out the real actress in her), Hadh Kar De Apne, Bichoo, Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega and Hadh Kar De Apne (all in 2000), Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Bas Itna Sa Kwaab Hai, Nayak and Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Ghum (2001), Pyar Diwana Hota Hai, Mughse Dosti Karoge, Saathiya and Chalo Ishq Ladaye (2002), Chalte Chalte, Calcutta Mail, Kal Ho Na Ho (for the song ‘Mahi Ve’) and LOC Kargil (2003), Yuva, Hum Tum and Veer-Zara (2004), Black, Bunty Aur Babli, Paheli, The Rising (2005). Currently her new movie Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna is due to release and she is committed for a handful ( rather a lap full) of movies such as Babul, Bajirao Mastani, Mr.Singh and Mrs.Mehta, Saawarya, Sholay and London Dreams.

Despite of many flops and downs, Rani’s determination and confidence helped her bring forward many hits and aspire the hearts of many audiences. This blooming actress can bring before us more promising characters to cherish as the years flow by.
