Rang de Basanti. Review on Rang De Basanti

Here's a movie you have to watch since it's not too often you get the best talent one can gather, to make a sensible movie.

Prakash Mehra wakes up the statesman without the wishy-washy crap and gives it straight from the gut. The characters stay real, jeering at frivolous mouthing of patriotic bullshit till they slowly realising their purpose which comes with a thud. The seething youngsters take down corrupt higher-ups whose involvement in deals lead to the death of a bosom buddy. The facade woven typically by politicians and the media- of blaming it on terrorists at one's convenience is conveyed with news coverage which suddenly blows the lid off the Centre's modus operandi. The script of this movie sounded well-debated towards the end when listeners of the radio station call in to give their feedback on what the renegades had done. The message is clear- kill the plague, not the person.

The soundtrack is pretty good too- with Daler paaji and Rahman anna doing the honors with 'Rang de Basanti' and 'Rubaroo'. My favourite scene was the one in which one of the 'potential actors' looks up from the dated patriotic dialogues and says - 'kaun bolta hai aise?'
