When I watched RDB for the first time I found it to be average. But then the reviews started pouring in and most of the reviews claimed it to bea MOVIE OF A LIFE TIME.So I watched RDB again, becos after reading the outstanding reviews I felt did I miss something that I didnot like it that much but now after the second viewng I really feel I missed soo much.the film is worse than I thought it was on the first viewing.

the film was about four to five dimwitted idiots who are jobless, aimless and just dont care about their future.I agree the youth of india nowadays isnot responsible enough towards society but still they are quite aware n sure about their future.they do realise the competition in the real time world and work like anything to achieve their goals in this highly competitve world.but these guys DJ,sukhi, aslam, karan dont have anything to do but guzzling litres of beer, wasting litres of fuel on their aimless journies, wasting their precious time on rating the models on FTV.i dont know how their parents tolerated such useless kids.i thought it was a very bad portrayal of youth in India.they were shown in a very bad light.

and suddenly one day when they get hurt in one of their protest march against their only worthy friend's death, patriotism gushes in their veins and they kill the defence minister, in reference to the past that the freedom fighters have adopted the same way to eliminate the British officer who was responsble for Lala lajpatrai's death. But the fools dont realise that today the scenario is different.the enemy then was external and we were hopeless n powerless. So the Freedom fighters didnt have any other option other than violence. But today the enemy is internal,we are our own enemies. If thats the biggest negative point I think thats also the biggest positive point, becos if we mend ourselves the society will automatically follow, becos we are the government.we live in a democracy and we have better ways of fighting the Evils in our society. As one of the characters in the film says ''JOIN POLITICS, JOIN CIVIL SERVICES''.I would have loved the film if these four characters evolved beautifully, come of age, take things into their own hands expose the corrupt leaders by their clever tactics and put them behind bars for their inhuman materialistic deeds which never happened in the history of Indian Politics, wud have taken this film to the status of CULT films but, but, but what they show in RDB is a very dramatic but immaturish way of handling the situation by the characters where they suddenly becum extremists, which the youth will wont identify but the worse case is that if they do then it will be a very wrong message passed on.

Among the characters,DJ's character was the most useless. I dont remember any scene where he spoke sum thing that took the film a few notches above.Whenver there was some significant discussion going on especially between Karan and ajay rathod, this idiot Dj wud break into a song in his horrible voice, watch out for the scenes where he breaks into songs like ''Sue kar maere man ko'',''Dil Cheez kya hai Aap meri jaan lijiye''(Umrao jaan),''Na jaao saiyan chudake baiyan'', and the most irritating''tim lak lak de tim lak lak de''.The only aamir scene that was good was where he talks to sue about college life, future in the Jeep. That scene was perfectly written, directed and acted and I thought that aamir's character is really gonna be something to watch out for.but nuthing of that sort happens.the scene where he breaks down before sue at the dinner table looked contrived and cliched and I didnt feel any pain the cahracter was supposed to feel.he looked like an egocentric character who was more worried about his reputation that he couldnt do anything than his grief for his friends soniya and ajay.also he looked awkward playing Chandrashekhar azaad, becos he doesnt have the kind of personality to carry off such role.and in the climax when he speaks about the kids being dark or white was just so unnecessary. Even genrally speaking his acting irritated me.He speaks of being a perfectionist and versatile but he has this same grin and bug eyes and the same gasping while delivering lines.on the whole DJ failed on the script level itself and further got diminished by the poor direction and average perfromance.

Sidhrath chracter was slightly better, this character was layered and his unexpressed love towards Soniya, his conflict with his father, he missing his mother gave his character a good foundation. But the conflict he had with his father wasnt explianed clearly.it was dealt in a very vague manner which affected the scene where he kills his father. It lookes so absurd and out of context just because there was no proper relationship established between Karan and his father.

Kunal's and atul kulkarni's track was the most contrived Hindu-Muslim bhai bhai one which didnt excite the novelty craving audience in me and many.Nuthing wrong with their performances but the characters just didnt took off from the script level itself.Sharman's sukhi was the best character and he came out with flying colors. His was a character though very shallow in context but still enteratains the audience with his sheer immaturity and foolishness. He was very lovable.Soha,as many said in their reviews she made a bakra out of the gang so she gets no sympathy in the end.Alica patten was nice but she n aamir didnt gel well. and also there's no explanation on how she shot the documentary alone without any monetary help,i wasnot even sure whether did she actually shoot it or not.

the film falls flat not only at script level but also at the direction level.''AKS'' was a better film becos it was made as a fictional film and not something to awaken the aam junta which worked in ''Aks'' favor.

if something that is truly going in the film's favor is its outsatnding music by Rehman.he cums with some great melodies like ''tu bin baye'',''luka chupi'',''rubaru''.

RDB is not a bad film but definitely its not a well made film.
