If there is one word to describe its songs and music - it is passion.
I love movies usually becaue of their story and their soundtrack comes as an additional luxury, in this case its quite the opposite. A.R Rehman has given one of the best sound tracks of recent times which is touchy, sensitive, spirit raising and mood upping.
It is a story of a british girl whose uncle was jailer during the martyrdom of Shahid Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters. She now wants to do a documentary on the same, based on the notes her uncle has written.
She doesnt get the support she needs, but manages to get to india after working hard and learning hindi. Here she gets to do the documentary film with the help of another girl and her friends. The characters of the documentary inspire the college kids and they become passionately idealistic.
They take up a case against injustice and in the end all of them die for the cause fighting against the system.
They dont complain - 'nothing can be done' , 'this is india for you' ' system is corrupted, we are helpless' , No they dont.
They try to change it the way and bring out the truth. They sacrifice themselves for it, but it doesnt matter when 1 has decided to be truly passionate about himself.
In the end, their sacrifice helps inspire a thought of passion amongst all the viewers.
A wonderful story, and extra ordinary music by a.r.rehman. The song Rubaru is one of the most inspirational numbers I have seen for a long time.
