I am honest (ok maybe not that honest), I am down to earth, I am doubtful, I am very slow when it comes to judgement, I am lazy, I am curious during more of my life. Which is what I discovered in being somewhat like the personalities in this film. The masti,coolness. It all seems to link towards our own lifestyle.

Ok..well I was not going to review for a while. Then again..someone just had to find my weakness and plead with all the typing they could do. So, I just could not deny it after all. Though I will just say that if I fail my exam I got today…it is his fault. :D

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Coming to the movie, I never really understood the title. Which is the first impact a film usually gives you. The title usually pulls you forward to watch the whole movie. Rang De Basanti. It’s a cool title. It was funny, cool, exciting and just brought in so much color into hindi films. A film which I have never seen and have actually been longing to see for a while now. It brought me to such thoughts that even such a level of Youth can bring such Pride to a country.
Story:
Whilst India was being ruled over by British rules, James Mckinley a police officer whose granddaughter, Sue is so mesmerized with all the sacrifices being made by such freedom fighters, Bhagat Singh. Her thoughts cannot shatter those words her grandfather had written in his diary, out of her memory or thoughts. Her grandfather on the other hand wanted to write a Documentary on the Indian Freedom Fighters. So she went to meet her friend Sonia, who then introduced Sue to all her other friends in the whole gang – Aslam, Sukhi, DJ, Laxman and Ajay. Sue finds a way in asking the whole gang if they could act in her documentary. However, they didn’t really take it that seriously and took it as a joke. Though, eventually they agreed to taking part. For those past few days, they go through many different themes and it seriously shows how much a young Youth could bring to a country.
Characters:
I would like to start of with my favorite character in the movie, Aamir Khan who played the role as DJ Superb acting as I can say. He was the character which I found brought more of the fun and wit into the movie. His way of making statements and different dialogues made me want to laugh! His Punjabi in was just really cool come to think of it.
Then we have Soha Ali Khan playing the role as Sonia. She looked quite different in this film. I’d say her best performance ever out of all the films I have seen of hers. She had some good chemistry with the whole gang.
Madhavan as Ajay. I adored him in this one. He looked a bit different but brought in a good appearance because he seems the type of cool guy.
Sharman Joshi taking on the role as Sukhi He was the one I was looking out for the most. His way of expressions and when he made a lot of silly jokes with Aamir, the way they talked to each other just brought me to laughs. Awesome performance by him.
Alice Patton as Sue. Her Hindi seemed quite fluent. I was very surprised to see such brilliant acting by someone like her. Come to think of it..me and my friend where just staring at her in the starting and when she said ”Tumhari Maa Ki Aankh”, we jumped up in horror. (Hehe, a little bit of sarcasm kind of lightened my day up.) She could try and bring up some more expressions to bring out some reality to her character. Though, a very interesting performance.
Others include, Siddharth as Karan, Kunal Kapoor as Aslam – those two where pretty fun to watch acting. Waheeda Rehman as Ajay’s mother. She has been a favorite of mine for a few years now and hasn’t really set off on the wrong foot to let me down. Anupam Kher, Atul Kulkarni, Kiron Kher and Lekh Tandon are some which I find worth being in the film. They have worked really well as a team.
The Director - Rakesh Omprakash Mehra
I had never thought he would bring such good thoughts into making such a film. I wasn’t really interested in his films either. After his other film Aks which I had heard of but never saw, though I think he had done a much better effort in this one. Now, I feel I will not have to miss any of them. He brought in excitement, fun and wit into RDB and did a really good job!
Picturisation & Music
The music blended in really well with all the different atmospheres. I find watching the songs as they are picturised can be more fun than just listening to it. My favorite song being picturised would have to be Paathshala. It can just lighten up the whole aspect of the film. They also show where Aamir drops into a pond. It was really cool. The background in the night is really sleek and new. Though all of the songs are well picturised, just this particular one caught my eye a lot.
Cool Scenes
1.When the student are taking auditions to get their different roles.
2.Where Sukhi and DJ have a race to see who drinks all the daru faster :D Sukhi falls into the Pond.
3.DJ's way of behavior and his interacting with his mom. It was just so adorable.
The Dialogues In General
Hilarious dialogues at some point whilst others are also pretty serious but surprised me. The way Aamir and Sharman Joshi interact with each other is just hilarious. Such dialogues at the starting of the movie where some guy asks Sue a Question - Hello Madam…which country? And her reply - India I hope! Seemed witty and really cool.
Something very cool I found about the film was the drop that Aamir makes later on. It seemed weird at the starting but brought a pretty new thing to it. Nothing particular in the film which I didn’t like. Just a few dialogues which shouldn’t have really been there such as I went to bloody Indian night classes. Yeah..
I am very late once again….i always wished to be the first to review on this movie but that is very so called Bohoth dur ki baat. Cannot happen..and if it ever does then it would be a miracle :D Coming to my last thoughts about the film, it rocks!
