The movie Rang De Basanti is a masterpiece from Rakesh Omprakash Mehra. The music of the movie and songs especially the 'Lukka Chuppi' sung by none other than the melody queen Lata Mangeshkar is a gem of a song in its true sense. The story revolves around how a foreigner related to the erstwhile Raj came to India to make a film on Bhagat Singh and his followers who shook the mighty British Empire by challenging and encountering them in every aspect and ultimately going to the gallows. The background score of the movie by A.R.Rehman and the movie music keeps humming long after the film is over.
The treatment of the story where an airforce pilot dies while protecting the life of several Ambala people and goes down with the ill quality MIG aeroplane is outstanding. The way the montage of relating the old age where the youth of then India fights against injustice to the youth fighting against injustice now makes this movie so special.
The acting by the cast esp. Sidharth, Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Waheeda Rehman, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Anupam and Kiran Kher , Om Puri and others is at per excellence. The cinematography of the movie by Binod Pradhan must be praised. The movie was India's official entry to the Oscars and rightly so. The movie is made of great panache and is must watch. Kudos to Rakesh Omprakash Mehra for making such a movie.
