Rang De Basanti ushers in the AR Rahman sounds that his ardent fans were grown accustomed to listen. One of THE best albums of the year, its got tracks that grow on.
Right from the catchy Pathshala to the hauntingly melodious Tum Bin Bataye, this album has it all. Daler Mehndi has outshown himself in Rang De Basanti, a track thats going to have ppl on their feet in no time. Lata Mangeshkar has sung Lukha Chhuppi, a number that can be described only as cute. Honestly, her voice shrills over some tones, but the entire music arrangement helps to overlook that. Aamir's rendition of Lalkaar raises the bar for songs sung by actors. He has done a very good job, without overdoing it.
This album brings Rahman back into the elite league where he belongs, composing tunes that might not get the junta on the floor immediatley, but definitely entralls the listeners.
Go get Rang De Basanti, you wont be disappointed.
