Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology commonly famous as ’’R.A.I.T’’ is so far one of the few ’’A’’ graded colleges under mumbai university.The Navi mumbai sitituated institute is humungous in appreance as its joined to the famous D.Y.Patil college campus .Well whats so special about this college except its my studying college..to be frank nothing !!..yeah nothing for outsiders but for insiders its a world in itself..So let me just point out some key things abt R.A.I.T.
1.RRC---The Red Rock Cafe..The first stop b4 u reach the college..on the way.. a hang out for class bunkers and a place to check out hot chicks from medical college.The cafe is small so most of the ppl occupy the outside space under a huge banyan tree.Grab something to drink and sit for hours no one will complain..RRC serves hot&cold coffees,Ice tea’s of different flavours,choclates etc...tell u a secret RRC was also an underground passage or shortcut to R.A.I.T.but now the management has closed it..devils..!
2.THE GARDEN---when I was admitted to this college the M.U. admission process was so delayed that there were only 3 months left for first sem exams...so we most of my class spend our first sem in THE GARDEN...completing the journals and assignments ...its a beautiful place in front of the college entrance nicely maintained......
3.THE UNDERGROUND--the architecture of college cleverly connects the various parts of college through a common underground passage..we call it ’’the dungeons’’..it was a scary place for freshers once as all seniors used to carry out their ragging activities here ..it was totally abondoned once but now its totally destroyed by classrooms all over......and lights have been put so the dungeons is no more !!!!!
CANTEEN--Initially there were 2 canteens one the common ANNA’s canteen run by the south indian anna which served delicious hot food for hungry....it was sitituated in dungeons and hence obviously restricted for freshers....for seniors use to hang out there all time...other was BRC the BLUE ROCK CAFE..it was actually hotel management canteen for engg students it was a paradise to complete journals and assignments..also sitituated in ’’dungens’’ but the hotel mngmt was shifted to a new bldng so now there is only one canteen in our bldng..ofcourse go to H.M and eat but its a 3 min walk.... too long yaar common... The canteen various delicious foods at really reasonable rates..some popular picks are
i.Misal Pav --a typical maharati dish most popular in students for its always hot and for 10 bucks its a stomach full.....instantly available..
ii.Samosa pav---next popular dish..gettin late for next lecture just grab a samosa pav..by the time u reach ur class room ur stomach will be full....
iii.chai----anna’s chai for those who need a refreshment ..
5.LAW------law is a place so called bcs its in front of the law college a 2 min walk from the canteen.. its just a staircase area but its famous for its airy ambience..there is continous air passage in this place.. no body knows how or why??..and also its passage for medical ppl (gurls)...so!! what more do u need ??
6.THE TREE----as the name suggests its a tree but when u sit under it there is a huge ground in its front where cricket matches are held.....just like first class club cricket matches so u can see it free of cost ofcourse...plus a good airy place to hangout...
7.THE F.E night----freshers worst night..its official welcoming of freshers to R.A.I.T...till tis day freshers can be ragged after this no .....bcs they become a part of college after this night....its a full of party night DJ,music and fun all night..holiday next day mostly.....
8.OTHER FEST’s----there are various society’s of electronics,computer,instrumentation etc which conducts technical fests contaning various competitions like robotics manual,computer controlled and automated robots as well...winners go with prizes loosers dont stay back but party all night !!!! most fest’s end up in a party night......
9.HORIZONS----this is it the big one...HORIZONS is a 72 hrs non-stop activity...I mean non-stop going on in the college which includes various small activities like debates,quiz,gaming,rappling,seminars etc etc..but there are 3 main events in 3 days....mostly one main event consists of rock show performed by establishd rock bands....other two are for special artists like last time it was euphoria,b4 that shankar ehsaan loyd perfermed and so on....ppl sleep in college campus during horizons.....its total crazy and one of the biggest fests that happen!!!!!!! taking place in first week of march its the last fest ...... as a couple of months later exams are dued
10.KALARAAG---- its a theatre group comparising of various students from various fields like hotel mngmt,medical,dental,law,engg etc..which come together & perform various plays and acts ..its a good stage for ppl intrested in acting...kalaraag is held in the D.Y.Patil auditorium..commonly called ’’audi’’ which is not less than a movie theatre full ac and seats abt 850 ppl...
LIBRARY---apart from the huge book collection the library is most occupied for journal completion..just put on ur headphones and start writing..no one will disturb u..its open from 10 to 10....bunk lectures and sit in library..most common funda during submission times...
ZERoX ----well any engg institute is incomplete without a zerox wala....the campus has a zerox wala too but the demand of zerox is so much that there are 3 more zerox wala’s outside the college......without these ppl what would we doo......(engg ppl will understand the imp of zerox more clearly !!!)....
OFFICE------its the most cursed place of all as its the ’’office’’.The reason is simple its a prototype of our todays government office exact replica......nothing gets done in a single visit....nothing..but I guess its same every where...
U might wonder why this guy isn’t saying anything abt the staff and teaching and labs..hey chill ur in R.A.I.T......staff is less known...’’aree ye apna prof hai kyaa ??’’......’’apna pratical kaunsa lab mein hai ??’’......’’lecture kaha hai??’’ these are most common lines used here..who cares abt staff and labs......ppl study but not that seriously bcs in engg studying is done b4 exams and at home in college u complete assignments , journals and hav fun....
ok leaving the fun part aside this is serious I am really dissapointed by our education system ..I mean ur gonna be an engineer but all u hav done is wasted ur precious money and 4 years just struggling to pass ur exam papers ..there is no knowledge what so ever ....this is a serious issue...M.U says its better than other maharashtra universities but the quality of education I dont think is helping in any sense..we hav to struggle ourself for everything from books to study..no teaching staff support..its really bad ............something must be done abt it !!!!its no use rating any engg colleges of M.U in terms of education except few .....as its the worst so I would not recommend ppl who really wanna study to join engg at first place !!! (frustration!!!!!!)...
Anyways we all feel proud of our college’s bcs its that part of our life when we had crazy fun, make friends some last for lifetime some go away..but those memories remain for ever..so is my college I will be leaving it in abt 4 months now..It taught me lot of things gave me a personality,friends and a glimpse of life to come.....and its really hurting to leave but all thing have to end so that new would begin....
