I am proud of Mysore. I have spent my entire childhood here. Although now I work in Bangalore, my heart still beats for Mysore. Everything about Mysore is magical, the calm, the serene and the scenic beauty of this city has charmed many. Mysoreans have always been known for their warmth and good nature, but sadly, on 07th September, 2006, I experienced some misbehaviour by the management of a reputed cinema hall.

I had gone to Rajkamal to see the movie being screened there, which is Lage Raho Munna Bhai. I had gone to buy tickets for the second show which begins at 7:30 PM. I enquired about when they will be issuing the tickets and how many tickets per head can a person purchase. The watchmen and other faculty told me that the tickets will be issued from 6:30 PM onwards and that normally they give a minimum of 2 tickets per head. As we were 10 people, I called 4 other people to stand in the queue for the tickets - my uncle (from Chennai), my brother and 2 of my cousins. So, we were 5 people and wanted to buy 10 tickets whcih was possible according to their staff.

The time rolled onto 6:45 PM, but the ticket window remain closed. At around 6:50 PM, they announced that they will be giving only one ticket per head. When the people, who were standing in the queue from 4:30 PM, demanded an explanation for the change in plans by the theatre authorities, a representative of the management alongwith his hooligans abused and manhandled the public and refused to budge from their decision.

When somebody from the public told the representative that there was no board or sign saying "One Ticket Per Head", he said that it was his wish, whether he puts a sign or no. The people who opposed this were abused verbally by the person from the management who was literally shouting at the public. Finally, he and his goondas won while we had to go through the queue twice to buy our 10 tickets.

One thing the theatre management should understand is that it is very difficult for ladies and aged people to stand in the queues for long hours waitng for the tickets. My uncle from Chennai was frustrated by this experience and I was embarassed. I have never come across this kind of a situation in other cities. In Hyderabad, there is a seperate queue for ladies and in Bangalore the queue is well maintained by proper theatre staff and not by hooligans as it was here. I regret this incident and thought of voicing my opinion on my favourite site, Mouthshut.com
