Mission Kabani..

Sat,15-7

Rising up at 6.00am on a saturday morning has always been a nightmare for me,but this time it was different. The vigor and energy to start the day soon was the trip in plan for the day.A trip to Kabani river,A waterbody that originates in Wayanad District of Kerala state, from the confluence of the Panamaram and Mananthavady rivers. It is nearly 220 kms from Bangalore and believe me its an amazing drive. The tantalising Mysore roads is just what a traveller would ever want. The approach road to Kabini is a rough ride though ..but could easily bear the hiccups and hurdles on the path to unseen paradise. Our stay was in Kabini river lodge-a perfect getaway for nature lovers.

The lodges being set in the middle of the forest lets us feel the tranquil of the jungle and the peace of the lush green! After a sumptuous lunch and quiet nap we were set for action, the jeep safari to the deep and dark home of wildlife. We were welcomed by a herd of spotted deers. The lone peacock here and there enjoying its evening stroll added to the magic of the safari. The monsoons had made the jungle slippery, and made the jeep safari a real rollercoaster ride, but truely the best one I ever had.A glimpse of the elusive tiger haunts us as we roam through the verdant jungle. The wild elephant looked as though they were accustomed to the art of posing for pictures! The hungry bison was too busy filling its huge tummy fully ignoring the enthusiastic guests..!

The enigma and the energy of the jungle remained after the majestic safari.

Sun 16-7

The day began with a wake up call,we got dressed up for the travel, this time there was no jeep,The queen of the jungle herself took us for the ride, yes the much awaited elephant ride! The cruise through the serene backwaters of the river was on a motorboat viewing the sleepy crocodiles and chirpy birds intent on their morning catch.

The chocolatey sweet and petite trip was a lovely peek into the jungle and an amazing enlightning on the pertinence of the wild.As the the exit message read,"we hope your heart is the only thing you have left behind"!!!Well, truely so.
