Some films are so special that they literally make a place in your mind and heart. Raincoat is one of the very few films. Some films never depicts histrionics, loud crying and tears but you feel a very hidden uncontrollable pain in the very depth of your heart, Raincoat is one of these very rare films that leaves you very depressed, disturbed and you feel very lonely and a sweet and slow pain gathers you after watching this classic movie.

My choice is very tough and normally very few films can satisfy me, ?Kaun? (Ram gopal varma) , ?Suraj ka satvaan ghoda? (shyam benegal), ?Shatranj kay khiladi? (Satya jeet ray), ?Gaja Gamini? ( M F Hussain), ''Split wide open'' (dev benegal), Monsoon wedding (Mira Nair), ?Zubaida?, ?Ankur? and ?Hari Bhari? (all by shyam benegal) were the films that satisfied me completely and I was not expecting any more of these kind of high class superb classic films in the near future that can fully satisfy the artist in me , specially from the very commercial artists like Ajay Devgun and Aishwarya Rai.

But Raincoat literally gives me a big SHOCK. To put it like this that it is an excellent film will be an underrated statement, its simply a classic, beautiful, superb and really really heart touching film and you cant stop the sadness, depression, loneliness and deep pain in your heart after watching this.

The story doesn?t matter much, but actually it?s the atmosphere, the treatment, music, presentations and the way film unfolds is what gives a film a classic look.

The song Mathura Nagarpati in the background when the rail goes to Calcutta, the rainy sky filled with gray clouds, the steamy engine, the landscape, and some goats in the way gives an unconscious state of pain and nostalgia.

The wedding song in the background ?Humari Galian? also adds in the depressed mod despite of the fact that it is a song that is sung on wedding in happy moods.

The overall strange look of the Aishwariya?s room that is crowded with furniture, the rain, the darkness, one candle, and two strangers that are past lovers gives a unique combination that adds a difference and sorrowness in the whole atmosphere of the film.

To say that it is a film of two lovers will be an understatement, actually the film deals with the realities, cruelties, bare facts and depression of life.

Raincoat is a metaphor, Raincoat prevents one from rain same is like the situation of the main characters, they just put a raincoat on their selves to prevent from the rain of life?s facts, and rain of the tears so they lie and lie which only adds to their pity life and you feel more sympathy for them when the lie more and more.

Aishwariya Rai is a revelation, she give s the performance of her life I completely agreed with the reviewer of ? http://www.Rediff.com? that Ash is looking terrifyingly depressed and looks like a malfunctioned doll. Ajay is also great in a very touchy, dejected, unsuccessful person both on career and personal fronts. Music of the film is superb, I have listened to each and every song on cd almost 10 times and still it carries the charm for me.

All supporting actors are equally good and competent. As far as direction is concerned, Rituparna Ghosh gives the best output of his minds? fertility till date. His grip on the script, screenplay, characters, tempo and moods of the film is simply superb.

As far as pervert and brainless person of Indiafm.com ?Tarna Adarsh? is concerned, don?t ever listened to his reviews, he don?t even know the abcd of film criticism, he just gives stars to a film if he feels the potential in it to be a bucks earner and box office hits, or if the producer is his friends. Remember he gives 3 stars to Rok sako to rok lo, and just one and half to Swades and called it a disappointing film, so Raincoat is no exception, these kind of so called film critics are shame for this profession.

I am also not agreeing with those who said that it is a slow film. Not at all , I have watched this film 3 times and still didn?t feel bored for a moment, it?s a real treat to watch.

So if you really want to see a superb and classic film, then never ever think to give this beautiful film a miss. A must see for all, Best film of the year, of Ash and Ajay and of Rituparna Ghaosh?s career.

I am simply in love with this film?. Mind blowing, lovable, classic, beautiful?..
