Rahul Dravid is one of my favorite cricketers next to Shahid Afridi. He is a typical batsmen and doesn’t bowl too much. He is the present captain of the Indian cricket team and is doing a good job. He is nicknamed as THE WALL Now lets go for his Biography.
Rahul Dravid’s full name is Rahul Sharad Dravid. He was born on January 11, 1973 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He is one of the top-ranked batsmen in world cricket and his rank is among the first ten at present. He is not a hard hitter of the cricket ball but bats with intelligence.
His foot work and timing are perfect and his style of batting is great. He is now opening the innings for India. He started his international cricket career in 1996. He is married to Vijetha Pendharkar. He has a son named Samit who is about four months old. He is a very defensive and mainly test cricket batsman early in his career but now he has become a very essential batsmen for India because of his pressure handling abilities.
Dravid is cool always on the ground and doesn’t get too angry and nervous whenever a bowler irritates him. He has scored 20 centuries in Test cricket at a phenomenal average of 57.86 and in one days 11 centuries at an average of 40.19. Dravid has been involved in two of the largest parnerships in ODI's: a 318-run partnership with Sourav Ganguly, thus becoming the first pair to combine for a 300-run partnership, and then a 331-run partnership with Sachin Tendulkar.
He His highest scores in ODI's and Tests are 153 and 270 respectively. He has also got five double tons in test cricket. In his career he has scored very less sixes when compared to other batsmen of his class but he has the great ability of sending the ball to the fence through small gaps in the field. His double tons are 200, 217, 222, 233, 270 and all of them were very effective to the opposition team.
He is also a wicket keeper but doesn’t have a good talent in wicket keeping. He is one of the greatest batsmen in the history on cricket. He has played for three international teams namely India which is his mother land, ACC Asian eleven and ICC world eleven. He had his test debut VS England in 1996. His one day debut came Vs Sri Lanka in the same year 1996.
He has bagged six awards in cricket. They are 1999 - Ceat Cricketer of the 1999 World Cup,2000 - Wisden Cricketer of the Year 2000,2004 - Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy,2004 - Padma Shri, 2004 - ICC Player of The Year nd 2004 ICC test player for the year.
So these all above points make him one of my favorite cricketers.
