Raaz 2 , Was really waiting for this movie as I am a big fan of Horror Flicks. Phoonk and 1920, both dissapointed me last year, in terms of not being able to freak me out. Raaz 2, had a lot of expectations pinned on it. However, it .... hmmm
Raaz 2 Starts off with a Man who is commiting suicide ( looked like Hrithik Roshan of KMG ) and then the camera zooms in RGV sytle to Mumbai where Nandini, is a top model and has joined back work. She meets old Boyfriend ( Yash ) and then both of em continue with thier life until Nandini Happens to meet Prithvi. He stares at her with his "ASNA bhari Nazar" as if he is wanting something, oh Yeah Emraan Hashmi hai .. Kiss Chahiye aur Kya ....
Anyways, this guy Prothvi is a painter who sees Kangana and is amused to see that this was the face he was painting for the past 4 months. He tries to tell her about all this but Kangana refuses to give in to his stories. Things start moving on and Kangana starts facing the rough weather. Something keeps Haunting her and she taken enormous attempts to kill herself, everytime rescued by Superman Hashmi.
Then finally Emraan agrees to help Kangana in finding out the reason for all the happenings and they travel to Kalindi, a small town in Himachal to find the secret of all this and predictably they are able to find it out. In all of the sequences, Yash, Nandini's boyfriend is not there but Pops up in the end like an Unwanted Pop Up advertisement of Santabanta.com.
K now done about the plot, Lets talk bout the techinical stuff.
Hmm So Story is as old as Hindi Cinema. This all revenge saga of a Spirit isnt that good enough to hold then nerves.
Direction - Directorially, this is one of the weakest films of Mohit Suri and He seems to have been lost in the plot in this one. The way the sound effects have been infused do not have the same effect that Raaz and BHOOT had.
One thing, I dont understand, Why is it that its always seen that the women are possessed by spirits. It happened in Bhoot, In Phoonk, Raaz, Raat, Naina, Anamika .... every fcuking horror flick that comes to the mind, they ve shown women being possessed. fcuk sake.....
Camera work is competitive for a RGV film. This is one area which they needed a lot of work on.
Talking about the 2 most positive parts of the film, Performances and Music.
Actually these are the 2 things which save the movie from being really bad.
In the performances section, Emraan scores the most. He is just too good. Its 3 times consecutively that this man has given a good performances in 3 years. So its proven that if u do lesser films chances are that u ll perform better ( no its not a taunt on aamir n Hrithik ) - 4
Kangana is good but this performance of her dint get me rolling and this is what she has been doing in every film she has done till now, having said all that She still manages to give a good performances. 3
Adhyayana is first rate. He is consistent throughout the movie and specially in the last 15-20 mins, his outburst is performed well. 3.5
Jackie Da in his 10 Min role is good as he usually is. But y again Bhoot Unkle ?? 3.5 Music is good, all the songs are worth listening to. Having said all that , the movie still keeps u engrossed but without much of a lasting effect.
