Ya, I never thought I wud use that adjective "beautiful" with the word boring sounds contradictory isnt it? But tats what precisely Raavan is all about. The scenes, cinematography is indeed beautiful, but the movie is cant help but say it very "Boring". Many times while watching the movie I though of leaving the theater halfway but just thought may b there wud b something more that mani cud offer, but in the end it was all over in the most predictable way possible.

The story has the whole world knows is inspired by Ramayan, indeed a great epic but the story has been repeated so many times that the prince saving the damsel in distress is indeed thousands of years old. Its even repeated in video games, remember prince of persia.

I don't know wat possible cud have been reinvented but definitely the damsel in distress plot from mani falls flat and fails to impress the audience going by the reaction.

I mean there is nothing much to write about the story since everbody knows abt it but nevertheless the characters are something that can be talked about.

Beera is a lawless criminal described something like a cross between robinhood and raavan. He does good deeds for his own ppl but something thats not good for the state or the system.

To seek revenge for his sister he kidnaps Ash and that sets a personal mission for Aishwaryas' husband Dev pratap(played by Vikram) to catch the lawless and intelligent Beera.

Aishwarya on her part starts to sympathize with Beeras' cause due to the injustice meted out to Beeras sister. It becomes a case of "Stockholm syndrome" where the captive sympathizes with her master which deviates from the original epic plot to an extent.

Beeras character is beautifully etched by Abhishek, I loved the scene when he comes across the mirror and the wireless transmitter or the confused maverick that he often tries to play who cant help but fall in love with his captive.

Aishwarya has played the part of ragini sharma very beautifully. In the first half she does not have much to do apart from screaming and shouting but its in the 2nd half that her character sympathizes with Beera and therefore leads her to the ultimate dilemma of whether she shud love him or hate him.

Dev Pratap played by vikram comes across as a honest police cop who does nt even mind using his wife as a pawn to get the villain.

Govinda has hardly got anything to do apart from goofing around here and there.

The acting and all is really good by Abhi, Ash and Vikram, cinematography is out of the world no need to mention that santosh is world class. The dance choreography by astad deboo is indeed contemporary or in lay man words something which is uncommon;-).

All in all everything seems to be good about this movie but the movie is boring, u r almost yawning when u get out of the theater. Its a ideal case where sum of parts does not make it a whole.
