The film has been released in multiple numbers of theatres here in Vizag but the movie crazy telugu people ensured that tickets are still not easily available till Friday night and so I ended up watching this one in 3D in a old Cinema Hall instead of 2D inInox.

The film has made tall promises and that I feel lets the film down. If one has watched the Rajnikant Starrer, Robot(which I did last year), he would have a feel of watching an ‘inspired’ piece of work. Both the films have the same soul and treatment and Robot being the first Indian film hence gets all the points for it.

Well, much has been said about the crass jokes in the several other reviews. The jokes seemed to make no one laugh in the theatre I was in and I wondered what was Shah Rukh thinking?

This being the first Bollywood film of Humanoid genre, it tries to explain the common problems that one would encounter in course of normal life while having a humanoid friend with you. The situations indeed would be funny sometimes and they are depicted as such in this film but then if you have watched Rajnikant’s Robot, there is no novelty.

In totality, there is not a single scene, or special effect(broken man rising from floor, hand changing into a gun, running on a train’s side, etc) which is novel in its conception. Indian films might be low on budget but we shouldn’t have been low on ideas. I remember smiling throughout the Rajni Starrer last year(despite the puerile south Indian jokes) due to the honesty visible on screen and the ‘wow’ factor of the Ideas that director Shankar had come up with. The Music is sadly below par especiall for the title tune for G-One seems a copy of a old hindi song.

Shah Rukh and his team have failed to raise the bar. They instead chose to use the same ingredients(of Robot) to produce another Indian curry here. Alas, in trying to be everything(Superhero, Humanoid, Family film, Comedy), the film ends up being good at none of them.

The north Indian audience didn’t watch Robot much last year and should go and watch this one as its new age cinema making which should be encouraged in favour of Crass Humour that films like Rascals, Holiday, Welcome etc promote. But for someone who has watched Robot, it’s a strict No-No. For Hollywood buffs, watch this movie only if you can tolerate ‘cheap’ versions of the special effects that you have already seen in Hollywood films before. For Shah Rukh Khan Fans, please do spend your money to see Shah Rukh in his characteristic ‘style’, India is after all a Star driven country.'
