RA.One - A different take. Review on Ra One

When I watched the movie, nothing surprised me to be very frank, as going by the list of guest stars, seeing its music videos, and plot, I guessed beforehand that the movie is not your typical bollywood movie. This was Shahrukh's Diwali gift to his fans, a movie with lots of special effects and guest stars, a sort of re-union of his friends in bollywood. If one might remember, he never promised a traditional movie, it was a movie dedicated to the kind of relationship he shares with his son, and he made it for himself and for his fans.

Finally I got to watch the movie in 3D, 2 days after release, I had made up my mind much before the release to watch it , irrespective of its rating. I am not going to compare this movie to any movie made this year, as this movie is truely different, so lets just drop the topic of 1st day collections or overall ratings, etc. I went to watch bollywood's first sci-fi 3D movie.. now I'm not saying it is bollywood's first sci-fi movie, read the whole thing again, bollywood's first "sci-fi 3D movie", and its SRK's first sci-fi 3D movie, something he's never done before. First things first, brilliant songs, Vishal-Shekhar did a great job of composing and directing the music, Akon's singing in Punjabi/Hindi is phenominal, and the movie started off with a bang, of course I understand that the traditional bollywood fans would surely complain about an inconsistent storyline+romance, well this movie isn't about that, its different and those who accept that and understand that will enjoy the movie the most. 2ndly, there were no boring moments in the movie, I was surprised that people said the first part was slow when most of the action was in the 1st part.

The 3D effects were great, and seeing our own actor in a 3D flick was impressive enough for me. Kareena really shows her maturity in this movie, acting as a mother, and a lively bubbly wife. She looks absolutely gorgeous in the movie. Arjun Rampal did what was required to be done in the movie, so no complaints about acting when the role itself was about him being RA.One. SRK as G.One did a good job, good enough since it's his first venture into a sci-fi flick. I shall not give out any plots or story lines as I want this to be a general review.

There's a saying that we must enjoy a fruit, be it sour, sweet or juicy, without complaining about it as each fruit is different and has its own good/bad. RA.One is an original concept (again I'm stressing on the concept only), its not a re-make, or a borrowed story from a book.

It is his first movie in 2 years that took 3+ years to make and filled with his appreciation for his fans. It may veer off emotional lines now and then, it may not be your "typical" movie, nevertheless, it is a movie very much. Tom Wu, Shahana Goswami and specially Aman Verma did what they were required to. My final word would be that it's definitely worth one watch, the SFX and 3D are great for a bollywood first. This movie might create the most awareness internationally about bollywood. A no-regret watch.
