As a frequent flyer, I had my worst experience with Qatar airways flight 0133 from Kuwait to Doha, Qatar today, 21st March 08. My check-in and hand carry luggage went through the airport screening smoothly. Each of my luggage carried the blue ‘Kuwait Airport security passed’ sticker. However, at the Qatar airport check in counter, the counter clerk told me that my check-in sample bag needs to be cleared by the Kuwait civil aviation authority. This has never happened with any other airlines.
When I appealed to their supervisor, Mr. Anwar, he was extremely rude and arrogant. I had to carry my bag out of the security zone to the civil aviation office where I received a verbal clearance from a man in uniform who was just walking by - did not even look at the sample bag. Then I had to go through the airport screening once again. At the check-in counter, they found that I am a few kilos overweight. They gave me no concession. When I appealed to Nadine, the duty manager, she was most arrogant, extremely rude and threatened to bar me from the flight. When I went to pay the excess, found that they do not accept credit cards. I had to walk out of the security zone to find a bank, then was screened once more on my return to the security zone.
By then, my morning was ruined. In all my years of flying, I have never met anyone unprofessional, arrogant and rude as Mr. Anwar and Ms Nadine of Qatar airways. I will never fly Qatar airways again or recommend this airline to anyone!
