My name is George S. Chettiar, I recently travelled on Qatar Airways flight 201 on 6th Dec 2007 as I was going to Doha, Qatar. I was very happy as I heard that Qatar Airways had now revamped and earned the status of a 5-star airline but my experience was contrary to my expectations.
When you entered Mumbai airport for departure there was no direction leading you to the airline counter. At the counter the staff did not bother to provide any baggage tag for my handbag. The passengers at the waiting lounge did not have seats to sit they had to sit down on the floor. This has something to do with the airport authorities I assume but it does affect the reputation of the airline.
Now about the airline itself, the cabin crew were not so cordial / courteous especially with the economy class passengers I guess. They did not put up an easily approachable face. The food served was tasteless / bland the omlette was sticking so hard to the container that I gave up pulling it off lest it would spill over to my co-passenger seated next to me, sachets were not so easy to open, the beverage also lacked in taste, the aisle seat near the windows were quite congested.
The inflight magazine is unnecessarily so heavy. The inflight entertainment/video would every time start all over again even though you have seen half the film already there ws no facility to rewind or forward, the channels would be just repeating.
In all it was definitely not I would expect from an airline with a 5-star status.
