In every way it is big. Review on Qantas Airways

I lived with my family in a place called Jayapura, which is the capital of Irian Jaya, in Indonesia, during 1970-73. Australia was very close to us. I visited Sydney once in 1971 with my wife for her treatment. Again I went to Gold Coast and Sydney with my wife and children during my Rest and Recuperation Leave as per UNESCO Staff Rules, which provides that the Staff Member either in the Headquarters at Paris or in the field, should go on leave every year. One year it is Rest and Recuperation Leave and the following year, it is Home Leave when the Staff Member visits his home town. And all these at UNESCO expense. Unimaginable, when these provisions are compared with the similar ones in India. I can say that they are non-existent in Indian bureaucracy.

From Jayapura, you have to fly to Port Moresby by Trans Australian Airlines (TAA), and from Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea) take the Qantas flight to Sydney. This was our itinerary when we had visited Australia during our Rest and Recuperation Leave.

Qantas is a gentle airline. In every way it is big. It flies big jets, Its beautiful Hostesses are always with a big smile Its big travel magazine is full of interesting information. Its seats are big, even in the Economy Class. The food it gives is hot and delicious, with very good Coffee made by Nestles, Australia. It is very liberal in treating the passengers with different varieties of tropical fruits. It has a big track record in punctuality and in safety standards. What more do you need from an Airline ?

Our Rest and Recuperation Leave did give us a different quality of rest, although we were always on the move. And it did recuperate us. After we came back, we were full of energy and enthusiasm.
