Dear Friends,

To start with, Pyaar Ke Side Effects (PKSE) is quite a hilarious movie. Talking about comic timing, well, people don't expect some Johnny Lever or Paresh Rawal type comedy from this movie. The hilarious feature of this movie goes much beyond those Hera Pheri or Golmaal type movies.

The movie talks about the societal relationships much prevalent in today's metropolitan world. Now, it could be between a husband-wife or boyfriend-girlfriend or even some budding lovers. Talking about the star cast, it has very few characters. However, all characters are utilized to optimum levels.

In the front line, you have the flamboyant Rahul Bose and the self-acclaimed starlet Mallika Sherawat. However, I was truly surprised to see the acting prowess of the sex kitten in this movie, making me feel,"Hey Dude, this chick can act....."

To support Rahul Bose in his antics is Ranvir Shorey, RJ Taraana, and Sophie Chaudhary.

The director of this movie is little known to me at least. He's Saket Chaudhary. Well, in the past, I have seen many relationship oriented movies. Well, all those movie tend to take the sentimental flavor to get to the audience's hearts. Well, whether you talk about the recent examples of Saathiya, Chalte-Chalte, KANK, K3G, etc. Here, Saket has decided to involve a communicating Rahul Bose involving the humorous picture of relationships. Quite an innovative thought process. I truly appreciate the creative minds of the budding young directors emerging on the Indian entertainment arena. These people do have the capabilities to connect to the global audience. And, Saket does stand in that rank.

As I mentioned earlier, PKSE decides to explore how relationships are shaping in today's fast world in a metropolis. Now, whichever "sex" you belong to, Rahul Bose a.k.a Siddharth (Sid) decides to preach the side-effects of Love, Engagement, Breakup, and all other phases that a male tends to go through a lifetime. And, throughout the two and half hours odd movie duration, you will get some gyaan about marriage, and relationships prevailing today. And, whether you wanna agree or not, he does give some suggestions about how to confront these dubious relationships.

Talking about the plot, you see Rahul Bose (Sid) in the role of a DJ, who wants to take DJ'ing as a professional career.. however to no avail. So, u see this 30-year odd person battling against 18-year old teenage DJ'ers in the WAR OF THE DJs Competition. On the other hand, Mallika plays the role of Trisha, a confused Delhite female over her relation requirements in life. Confused, as she doesnot know whether love should come after marriage or vice-versa. Owing to this confusion, she runs away on her first marriage night (which was going to happen to corporate honco Jas Arora a.k.a Vivek). And, during her marriage venture, she meets Sid who was DJing for the marriage procession in Delhi.

During the start of the movie, you see some flash-backs. Then, Sid and Trisha meet again during the debacle of yet-another defeat as a DJ for Sid. Then, both ordinary people repeatedly encounter each other only to find them seeking solace in one another. Both Sid and Trisha find themselves attracted to one another. And, despite many differences in opinions and lifestyles, positive and negative does tend to attract then repel. Finally, after a relationship as BF-GF for three years, Trisha pops in the much-awaited question for girls, "How do we take this relationship ahead?" Trisha wants to get married and Sid is confused about the commitment.

Although, both decide on a mutual basis to prt ways, they cannot erase themselves from their respective minds. Succumbing to the pressures of her military father, Trisha agrees to marry Vivek. And, meanwhile, Rahul starts his pursuit behind the much-desired item girl Sophie Chaudhary a.k.a (Tanya). She's repeatedly referred in the movie as "BABY GIRL VOLUME-3" due to her sexy album. However, during a dinner engagement, both Sid and Trisha realize the folly of their antics.

And, they decide to re-unite by another running-away by Trisha.

Well about the presentation, the movie is full of comic timings. You see a confused Rahul Bose

and his male-desires conflicting with female thought processes. His desires to watch cricket

match (India-Pak) are always in conflicts with Trisha's love making needs. And, then you watch Rahul's roomate Nanno (Ranvir Shorey) who is always counting his days of "NO-S**". Nanno reminded me of our hostel friends, who are carefree in terms of cleanliness and always enjoys to loiter around in the room's garbage mess. Then, you catch the encounters

between Rahul and Mallika's military father (Sharad Saxena), who always wants to put-down

his future son-in-law and desires Mallika to marry and re-marry Vivek. And, then Sophie

relects a spicy image of herself in the movie as Tanya or "BABY GIRL VOLUME-3".

The Positives of the film:

Rahul Bose and his acting prowess are the biggest positive effect of the movie. I have always been

in awe of the person and his acting ability. Whether you talk about Thakshak, Jhankaar Beats,

White Noise, etc. all are milestones in the acting career of Rahul. Mallika and her not-so sexy role

has shown to the masses that she has much more to give to Bollywood behind her Kiss Kiski Kismat roles.

And, Ranvir Shorey has displayed his excellent comic timing in the film and his hunt for a girl....

The story-line was excellent. And at the end of the movie, You will certainly feel that the movie should not end. How I wish that there was a television serial exploring the same story line as PKSE.....The camerawork was superb. The dialogue writer was excellent and wrote dialogues suiting the abilities of all characters.

The Negatives of the Film:

The music was not much appreciable. I will rank it between positive and negative. Apart from

a few hummable songs, Pritam has not given a great soundtrack. I feel that there was Rahul and

Rahul throughout the movie. While talking to the people, I felt that even Mallika should have been given a chance to talk about the female genre of the movie. This would have made the movie appreciable even by the female audience about their feelings getting voiced in the movie. Maybe, Saket doubted whether Mallika could connect with the audience as Rahul does.

Overall, a great movie to watch. A true entertainer.... You will not regret over spending

a few bucks to get a great insite over the 21st Century relationships.
