We had been just posted to Delhi afew months ago. We were staying in Dwarka. My husband and I had joined this gym for a short duration, as we had no idea how good the results will be. He wanted to reduce weight and I wanted to reduce the belly fat. There are around 5-6 gyms in our vicinity. But as I had said earlier, we were not keen to continue for long, so we decided to boil down to the closest. The manager then, assured us that we would love to continue for atleast a year, once we get used to the routine. So after a calculated decision we decided to pay partial amount for the membership, which amounted to 9 mths of the total annual membership. Though we insisted that we might want to quit as soon as we get the quarters in cantonment, a receipt which read "Half Yearly" was handed over to us.

But finally it so happened that we started enjoying the atmosphere there, and as you all might be aware that we in the Army hardly get to interact with the civil crowd, we were quite happy with the new life. Our associations and bondings became so good that we planned a trip to Nainital with our gym friends. The trainer there is so good that he personally remembers the entire schedule for you through the week, and works on minor details of your fitness regime. And we then with the achieved results and the improved fitness levels, decided to extend our membership for the rest of the year. But unfortunately the manager had changed and here started the whole issue. The new one was hell bent that as our receipt read half yearly, we have to pay for the membership of 6 mths more to get it renewed.

He was very blunt in saying that I don't know what the previous manager had assured you that is non of my business, I can only extend your membership if you pay for 6 mths. We were due to pay only for the rest of the three mths, but as he had seen that we had got used to the routine he was acting funny. Finally with a lot of coaxing we managed to get it extended within the prior deal. As days passed by the time of our further renewal drew closer, and we both wanted to continue. But all of a sudden the manager again started off with the previous issue saying that we had already crossed a month above the duration. (let me here clarify that during the entire year we had taken a break of two months, 1mth in every 6mths) So our annual membership was getting over after a month. But he again showing us the previous receipt started arguing that we had paid half yearly so then we cannot get a break, and so on. Finally with all this heated discussion we had to take the decision of quitting the gym. B'coz any respectful person cannot take allegations on the same issue twice. When we had extended our membership to annual, the issue of our payment was resolved but he again recked it up.

He thought he could now fool us by making us pay as per his terms and conditions if we wanted to extend. Finally our healthy relation ended up with a bitter note thanks to the new manager. Both of us are fitness freaks so I don't think we will sit back home for long, but we will surely miss our friends and the trainer as we all were now an extended family. So the sole reason of me writing this review is that whatever deals we make we should have it in writing. In big cities the job skipping is so frequent that we really don't know if the person will stay there till the said duration, and the new appointed person is really not interested in the talks you had with the previous employee. So it is better we learn from others mistakes than been taken advantage of.

We had joined a gym for the 1st time and we had no idea of there being any other receipt which read "Annual". As customers we must not have blind faith on any of these people however sweet they appear. Keep the verbal in memories and written as proofs.
