I have been using pureit since last year. After the kit exhausted, I called up the customer care to order the replacement. But they were asking for 48 hours, hence, I bought the 3000 litres Germ kill kit from their authorized dealer.
In a family of two, this should last for around an year. However, after 8 months of usage, during one of the regular cleaning session, the carbon filter top came apart.
I reached out to customer care for assistance, But they said kit has a warranty of only 6 months from Date of Purchase and I have to buy new one.
Hence it makes more sense to buy smaller capacity replacement kit as they can't be guaranteed to last long. The glue that holds the top cap over the carbon filter will give up after some time while sitting in water. On a sidenote, this purifier doesn't alter TDS of water.
I checked the water quality with TDS meter. The TDS of the water was 136 ppm, same as of corporation water(in Delhi). It apparently kills only'germs' and'viruses'.:)
Again, a warning: go for only small replacement kits as the inferior quality of these kits don't justify spending on higher capacity kits. Happy water. :)

Update as on 20th Dec: After this post, HUL representative contacted me and assured of immediate resolution. Impressive!
The technician turned up the evening of next day.
He acknowledged that this is very common problem for this purifier, and is due to manufacturing defect, hence, reinforcing the belief not to go for higher capacity refill kits.
The technician charged 75 bucks for this, not a big deal though compared to what the customer rep was asking before writing this review on Mouthshut.
As the problem was due to the manufacturing defect, ideally, the resolution should have been provided free of charge.
