I am regular purchaser of snapdeal vouchers and this time I opted for two vouchesr for Punjabi By Taste Restaurent, Janak Puri. The scheme was to pay rs.265/- for a meal and drinks worth Rs.500/-. Out of which rs.50/- is to be paid in advance to Snapdeal and rest rs.215/- at the merchant outlet.
I visited their for dinner on sunday evening, and much to my experience I found this restaurent completely vacant of customers at 08:30pm, while at that time on sunday evening almost all restaurents are fully occupied with waiting queues.
The waiter who offered us seat was not versed with english neither good hindi. The first thing he questioned(are you with Snapdeal voucher". I said Yes, for which he replied "you must show it to the manager first, else it will not be entertained in the end". I showed the vouchers to the waiter which he showed to the manager. Then he offered us water options(Bottle or normal". I asked for mineral water which he stated is for Rs.35/-. I said please serve first. he gave a bottle of Aquafina with MRP Rs.15/-. I didn't bothered as most of the restaurents are bypassing the instructions of serving such materials on MRP.
I asked for options of starters and he replied for Masala papad and Veg corn kababs. I opted as it was strongly recommended by him. By the time two more families joined in and much of the excitement they were also with snapdeal vouchers.
The starters served were pathetic. As masala papad was ful of salt and kabab were not fully baked. Before we started, the waiter stated that we should give order for main course right now. Though I resisted but my wife placed the order for food. The items demanded were Dal Makhni, kadhai paneer, Mix Vegetable and Jeera rice with One Missi Roti and Lachcha Parantha. Iasked him to servce rice after we finish roti and parantha or after 10 minutes of serving food.
We somehow ate half of kabab and a little of masala papad. Till the time food was served on other table next to us. After 20 minutes of waiting our order was placed on the table. The small plate provided, meant to keep roti was not clean as it was the plate containing tissue papers lying on our table and same was provided after taking away tissue papers and dust was left. The waiter after replacing the plate said, if you want to order more roti, tell me now!. I said "No" because the roti served were in an open steel container, with no paper or cloth underneath, which I completely dislike. Also the rice which was to be delivered later was served with the rest of the food.
The first bite of the food itself gave the idea of the quality of food and service. The food was pathetic in terms of taste and not fresh. kadhai Paneer bowl was full of onions, may be left overs of lunch with four slices of paneer of poor quality. Dal makhni was only good and fresh. Mix veg was really pathetic and lacked all the ingredients of mix-veg. The food lacked all the savors like color, taste and appeal.
Both of us went full with one roti/parantha each because of the tacky food we were eating. We didn't even touched the rice. Almost full bowls of everything were left. I called the waiter and asked to pack the food left as we were not able to eat. I thought to take it home, so that it can be modified in taste by adding our own spices. Waiter emptied the table. I ordered a pista ice cream for my wife.
The family next to us in the meanwhile finished the food and there bill was presented. The head of the family stated some error in the billing. Waiter admitted the same and got it rectified from the manager.
The ice cream served was open and it was a matka kulfi with MRP tag on it. I asked the waiter about it and he reluctantly replied that pista kulfi is not available. This is also good and moreover of same price. The price of the kulfi in menu is again twice of MRP.
After finishing the ice cream somehow, I asked about the bill. The waiter presented the bill immediately. I inquired about the food which I gave for packing. The waiter replied we do not pack leftovers. I said I didn't even touched two items from the food, for which he stated that he don't know anything and he has to abide by the orders of manager. I was getting angry but my wife said OK. I checked the bill and found a mistake of Rs.257/- in calculations. I simply went to the manager and clarified. He admitted the mistake after a long hot talk session. Finally I called Snapdeal customer care and then only the matter ended. Also the taxes quoted in menu were 10% but I was charged 22.5% in the bill stating different reasons and terms of snap deal vouchers.
I quit the restaurant very angrily and with a promise not to return.
I also suggest all " NOT TO GO TO PUNJABI BY TASTE, JANAK PURI AS IT IS THE WORST RESTAURANT IN TERMS OF SERVICE, FOOD QUALITY AND BILLING ISSUES". Food prices are not upto the standard . Also if you visit there, do check your bill, because they are making mistakes knowingly. Snapdeal voucher is of no use there and Rs.50/- paid in advance is a complete loss at merchant outlet.
I have to rate 1 in all terms because below 1 is not allowed.
