Its been a year and half I am staying in Pune. I moved here after staying in Bangalore for 12 years, otherwise I am originally from Nasik.
Pune has its great history, culture and nature to offer. The weather of Pune is quiet amazing.
In my initial days I was very happy to see that the traffic here is much lesser compared to Bangalore and also quality of road is MUCH better than Bangalore, believe me! Bangalore traffic & roads are just so pathetic and are in that condition since years!
Some downsides of Pune are more significant that good about it:
People here are very arrogant, violent and ready to pick fight any time! You see this attitude mostly on the road while driving. People here has no driving sense. Signal jumping, riding on footpath, wrong side, high beam, lane cutting are like their birth right. Every individuals originated from Pune consider themselves as "Shivaji Maharaj" and their attitude is always such. So one cant even question for the trouble they are causing you. in return you get to listen to their abusive words. Pune Traffic Police has "different" interests and they cant not work on solving basic traffic issues which kills maximum people per year in Pune.
Workplaces in Pune matches the taste of migrants from small towns nearby. Hygiene at workplace is zero at most of the local companies. There is no extra penny spent to make sure that workplace is pleasant and safe for ones health. I always thought hygiene at workplace is our right but in Pune its optional.
About having food outside, Its difficult to find neat and clean restaurant and staff here, so you end up having food at expensive places only.
Real estate's bubble has blown up too much in Pune. The property here cost 20-30% costlier to own and yield 20-30% lesser rent than Bangalore.
At the end I would like to conclude here is - the city make you stress-out too much than making you feel happy at the end of the day. There are lot of issues you have to face, which are out of your control.
Disclaimer: Above note is my personal opinion based on the experience I have gone thru. When I say "Every individual from pune." please find it as exaggeration;) I mean it for "every individual I noticed doing some road stunt".
When I say "Pune Traffic Police" I talk about all those cops you took bribe from me for most of the wrong reasons.
I am surviving here only because I love my work and I got some good friends around. I am waiting for the time when I will book one-side ticket from Pune.
