So here it comes another one from jag mundhra, A true story of Kiranjit-The woman who was bashed and battered for 10 years of her married life.FINALLY she says to herself -Enough-and thats it.She burns down her Draconian hubby. In jail she finds that she is not the only one who has done it and she is told by the inmates -one of them-that she did the right thing and she needn`t be sorry for that.So she finds nandita das -An NGO head who tries to help her out and finally she gets free and her case becomes a landmark case in the law history of Britain.A good Story. But made better by the refforts of director, actors, background scorer.
Imagine if that had been a case in our country?how many years she would have taken to get free, I think when she gets ocatagenerian. The movie is well directed and well edited. But it wont get any awards even though the script plot and other things are good. The depiction of the tortures she went through is good and at times the actor playing deepak -her husband showed more realism than aish in protryaing the chauvanism.
She did had a good fate that she escaped a murder trial in just 3-4 years.the portrayal of her jail life , friends is very good.
It is good to see justice being done finally.Surely a watchable film and thought provoking too.
