Ludlum is the author of the famous Bourne series and one of my friend strongly recommended him as well.So the expectations were quite high when I started the book and to my surprise it turned out to be one of the worst that I've read so far! Its a story of a retired secret agent who realizes that whatever he believed and worked for till date is all fake and hence he tries to hunt down those who are responsible for this.Sounds interesting, huh?
Trust me, it only sounds interesting! Though it starts off well but everything is so difficult to be true here. A secret agency so secret that even the President of US is not aware of it, forget FBI, CIA. A retired secret agent who is like a superhuman, taking on many at one time and emerging victorious every time.Too many betrayals, no-one to trust, too many twists and turns which kills the flow of the story.
Trust me, as I was approaching the end, I was not concerned anymore to find out the real culprit as I lost interest completely. Yes, it has some good action moments which speaks volumes about Ludlum's talent but not good enough to keep me hooked.I've read Lee Child, Dan Brown, Clancy, Jeff Archer, Sue Grafton etc and liked them all.I don't think I'll go back to Ludlum again till I finish tasting the flavors of numerous other writers.Even if I do get back to him, I will stay away from his prometheus books
