Surprised to see ProfitBooks on Mouthshut. I earlier thought that this site provides reviews only for physical products.
Anyway, I'm using ProfitBooks since one year and very happy with it. I'm not a great writer but will try to list down my experience with ProfitBooks.
For starters, ProfitBooks is an online accounting application which small businesses can use to manage their office finances. It combines accounting, payroll and other productivity features into one easy to use software.
I always wanted an online software for my office so that I can access the data from anywhere. Some friends suggested Tally but I found it very complicated to use. Also, it doesn't run on my Mac.
When we bought new PCs at office, vendor pre-installed Windows 8 and told us that Tally won't play nice with this new operating system. Also, its painful to install and update it. So, we started searching for a good online accounting software.
Then I read about ProfitBooks on YourStory.in website and registered on their website. No installation, nothing.. I was ready to use it in less than a minute. I think, this is the way all software should be.
ProfitBooks avoids using complicated accounting terms and organises vouchers simply in Income, Expenses, Banking and Journal categories. So, it become easy for a person who doesn't have accounting background to use the application.
As we are mainly a service based business, I did not get a chance to test inventory features. So, won't be able to comment on that. It does a good job with sending invoices and tracking expenses.
We can group transactions according to Projects, so it becomes easy to track income and spending for that particular project.
One thing I missed is a detailed documentation. Actually, application is simple to use but still a manual is handy sometimes. Their support team is good and responds quickly.
I can't think of the points on which a software system should be judged, so will stop here. I hope the little experience that I shared is useful for the readers.
