Story:

I dont really want to dwell on the details on the book as things left unsaid are best as you get to experience them.Hence the short review!

This book is the first in a trilogy with the others being Show Of Evil and Reign in Hell with all three books being based on a lawyer.

The book has adequate class and the author has a good writing style that keeps you hooked. The whole book leads up to one massive climax that leaves you dazed.

I am certain I will run out of adjectives for description of the ending. One thing is for certain though, it will stun you and will keep you thinking for the days to follow.

This book was made into a fantastic though a not too successful film.

This lawyer Martin Vail(played by Richard Gere in the film) has been handed a case(forcibly) where a young boy is charged with the ABSOLUTE brutal murder of a priest who is famous for his charitable acts.

The boy is caught red handed with the knife, with the priest's blood all over his hands. He vehemently denies murdering this priest whom he says claims was a father figure.

Just for the record the young boy was played brilliantly (in an academy award nominated role) by Edward Norton;though the climax was screwed up in the movie;not that it was changed,it sure could have been better.

The book is fast and has lots of pace making sure that you the reader dont even contemplate keeping the book down.

Edward Norton's character in the book Aaron Stampler is one which has been thought of and written beautifully by the author,it starts off with so much innocence and as the pages pass by you begin to wonder if the guy has indeed planned the murder.

The sequels though left a lot to be desired, the second book was good in parts and the third one was one those books which you wish you hadn't lifted from the rack.

Read this book when you have the time especially on a long journey.
